Really nicely done mate looks fantastic

A bit more done. Few more things to finish in the bay but it’s mostly in there. New set of rocker covers with the coils relocated to neaten it up.

Diff in, exhaust in bar the rear mufflers and pipes as we need to finish off boxing the rear spring mounts and towbar, fuel and brake lines in, rear air shocks in and plumbed up, boot area epoxied, painted and the first stage of car builders down.

All going well should have it mostly done by Easter then off to the auto sparky/tuner.

Lots of fiddly finishing jobs to get done in the meantime.

Need to sort out a front carpet now with the trans hump. Anyone had much luck manipulating an auto body carpet with a bit of heat?

Looking good mate - fingers crossed we will se it for real in Temora

Well after 3-4 years off the road and over 1000 hrs now into this car we were able to get the car to the nationals.

Lots of headaches along the way. Our biggest issue was the cooling system. Wanting to run a decent trans cooler for towing, AC and an over engineered cooling system to cope with the Brisbane summers space was at a premium. Unfortunately the aftermarket $1500 water pump we used and set everything up with was not up to the task (defective design that was disappointingly handled by the manufacturer) meaning we had to go back to modifying an LS3 water pump to get everything to work and fit with mm to spare.

The stock converter and subsequent second hand market place converters were not up to the task so bit the bullet and had a billet converter made for it which transformed the car. This was fitted a week before the nationals and we were driving again.

Being untested and the family coming along for the ride we decided to tow the 4hrs up through the gap to Stanthorpe and then get some kms into it on the drives up there. The car did not miss a beat. Handled the twisty shitty roads magically and out on the highway was sitting on 65mph at 1950 rpm with the 3.7 tru trac center and wheel combo. Listening to everyone trying to get their cars started in below zero degree weather the Holley EFI made cold starts a dream and was getting better as the car was learning but I’ll take it down to Ash Mason who wired the car and do some road tuning with him to smooth the tune out a bit. A minor exhaust rattle (exhaust needs to be modified anyway for the towbar), a minor trans leak and a hood liner and rubber kit to go in still but we are now back on the road and I could not be happier with how the car drives, steers, stops and behaves. It drives like a VZ commodore which is a far cry from the tractor it used to drive like.

Once the minor teething issues are sorted we will take it out to Warwick to see what times we can run.

It was great to catch up with yourself Clay and the other interstate FB EK family. Mrs was a bit crook so unfortunately hanging around in the cold sinking a few beers and talking shit didn’t happen. Maybe get down to SA next year if we can juggle it around work and school.
