my thoughts aswell thommo, NOT TRYING TO TAKE ANYTHING FROM THE CAR THAT WON AND CAN FULLY UNDERSTAND THE REASONS IN TOWING, but there were plenty there that are proven daily drivers and were driven to and from the nats

I know were you are coming from RB but at least it is fully registered as compared to mine which I drive all the way to and from every nationals for the last 6 nationals but it is on street rod rego because it has not been engineered for full rego and it is as rough as hessian undies compared to Garys    , Trev 8) .

I think is was meant to be for best daily driver.
thats the way I voted.
My choice didn't get up :(

Well done Steve for posting all this
I knew which cars belonged to most of the winners,
but not all of them.
I thought that exactly as well Thommo.

If it's any consulation I also thought along those lines and was probably more surprised than all of you on the award for Real Street and could only figure that I had it wrong and it was more of a "Street Machine" orientated award. I also voted for a car that was a daily driver (by feedback from people). I have already put over 300klm on The Beast and never intend to leave it locked away, it will be driven regularly and was only towed to Bendigo because "Murphy" is still alive and so are alot of the Kangaroos he puts on the road!! When we arrived in Bendigo the EK was unloaded that night and driven until we had to make the wildlife infested journey back to Darwin.

Hey Gary, who did that lovely drawing in your avatar?

As for the prize, it's not your problem if people didn't know what the hell they were voting for  8)

Maybe the wording on the voting forms should be clarified a lot better, then there would be no confusion.
It's not the fault of the owner, he or she is the lucky one to scoop the prize.
Everyone who enters votes ( the peers) so all entrants should be clearly informed of the class catogries and what it is there actually voting for.
Thats my opinion anyway..

My thanks to the owners of every car at the nats - I liked them all!
Congrats to all winners, specially Gary (yeah, alright, I'm biased - used to live in Darwin, and know only too well the effort/time/cost of getting that beautiful black beast down here...)
We all have different preferences, but for what it's worth, my favourites were the ratty old grey/grey FB sedan (out of the 'stockies') and the VERY tasty EK owned by oldnek - bloody impressive; love the look!
Thanks again to all concerned.

cheers jack

Probably opening up a hornets nest here, but the organizers of Grey Pride should do the same.

Last year there was a non Grey powered car winning the top prize, so this year they created 2 prizes - one Grey and one non Grey.

The car that won the Grey prize was a modified FC, which bore no resemblance to anything that rolled out of GMH. Nice car, but how this won over the Grima owned Cameo EK I'll never know. Maybe I mistook the category. I presumed it was for best original grey powered car

On the other hand, it's the entrants that vote, so ultimately one can't really whinge to the organizers.............though in hindsight some clarity is needed as to what the category actually is 8)
