Like Trev said its amazing how quickly the cash starts to run out as many members on here including myself can agree too!

First option would speak to an engineer on building guidelines for the FB EK as gathering the right research is critical for any build, you may just find out how expensive it is to do such conversions.

If the car requires panel work, paint, trim suspension brake upgrades other various things that pop up the budget may be gone before motor selection is even chosen

By all means im not trying to put you off i just remember when i brought my ute i had a $6K budget (doing everything ourselves) and a 9 month time frame... over 3 years on still not registered and well over three times initial budget and thats with a stock grey.

If your cruising at night and just want to run people next to you although a 8 sounds great a worked 6 can be just as quick

Good luck use the people on the forum and their experiences to obtain the best info on what works and cheapest alternatives

I wouldn't want to spend $22000 on a car to drift........ most likely into another car or a tree.

Not to mention all the time and effort you've put into building a $22000 car.

Start doing things like that in an old car body and thats what you'll end up doing. They are just not designed for high po work.

If you have the same P plate laws as are here in NSW you'll find you won't be able to drive it with a high power engine anyway. And if you can, the insurance for a P plater in a modified car will probably cost you $22000 a year, that is, if you can find a company that will insure you!!

You need to speak to an engineer first before you buy or do anything. They can make or break any dreams you may have.

You need to do a lot of research and costings before you start doing anything and once you have the dollar figures, double that number.

Whack in a Toyota gibbaly goog 4AGZEet758abcdefg engine into your Camry and have some fun with that.
I can't think what to write here so this will do.

Why not check out the possibilities of fitting a Jag series two power steering front end. They can be engineered and give you all the drop ya need without losing suspension travel(much like LH torana conversion) Set up all your driveline on the floor of ya shed, mod where nessesary and fit. Interior can come at a later date as I'm sure you don't need to have a flash interior going sideways. Body work and engineering will set ya back most of ya budget, but in the end you'll have a car that ya can give to ya kids.

yeah i surpose i don't want another car to roll. I think i wall just do it up to a street beater. As i know with a fully modded grey motor they can do a 1/4mile in 14seconds with the right parts.

Theo, Thats a great idea, but when I looked at one of those there 1.2 inches wider in track. So you can't quite clear the guards.

John,
I know a guy up here that narrows them and fits to what ever application he needs. I know we did our 47 Fargo with one and the differance in drivability was fantastic. I might even think about one for my next EK! SHhhhhhhh! Don't tell the wife!!!!

Yep and thats for a bare head no valves ect and you need a right angle distributer custom side plate custom intake and exhaust manifolds a lot of coin before you even start on the rest of the engine

Well i was thinking of going a red motor what (aust) said, it will be cheaper to go with a red motor. But isn't there 2 sizes of red motors? What one will be the best for performance and strength ? Also i was thinking for a rear diff, getting a VN diff with calipers and Hubs. If a 202 red is the go i found this red engine on Ebay and it is like 40kn from where i live so it's gonna be a bargin if you think it would be anygood. here is the link
