we will be there, not sure what day or days yet. Saturday is out for us, but if show n shine is on Sunday, we will definatly be up there then. Hopefully stay the night and come home Monday.
I'd rather drive something made of metal, not plastic!
Hey Cal, what's stopping your car from going? Do you need a hand?
Steve
Steve, it's at least a 6 to 7 hour drive............each way.
I doubt the old girl would make it
Thats the worst excuse I've ever heard , you have to get in on a convoy so if something happens your not alone, and upgrade your NRMA cover.
Last year we (me, missus and three kids) drove at least 12 hrs Wednesday, 12 hours Thursday and about 4 hours on the Friday to get from Pakenham (SE Melb) to Yamba (North NSW), it's part of the fun.
Anyone who does it gets hooked I think.
Cal you have about 6 weeks to get the car properly serviced and packed for the trip, DO IT MAN .
Mark, I'll be there for some dribbling mate, Trev .

I agree Trev That s the lamest excuse that ive heard....lol
OK...all you old fart Nationals 'veterans' might think nothing of jumping in the deep end and driving for 24 hours but others of us are a bit more cautious.
Cal has just dropped a load of cash getting clutch issues sorted and having driven Cals EK...and I hope he doesn't mind me saying so...by the time it is 'serviced properly'...he might not have enough cash to buy petrol to get to the Nationals...
Cal is in the best position to know whether the EK could make it to Bendigo or not...
Like you guys I hope everyone seriously considers getting to the Nats...
See you at Bendigo...six weeks and counting...think I might just go and upgrade my NRMA cover...
I will be working in Melbourne in the week leading up to the nats so have a Newcastle to Melbourne solo trip to look forward to while wife and bubs take to the skies later on in the week.
Not too stressed as the wagon is used to long hauls and the NRMA are seemingly never too far away. Just thinking that recently ditching the CD player in favour of the romantic sounds of the AWA pressmatic might not have been such a good idea....

Well said, Stewart
I'm still getting to know the car and it's little oddities. If I knew 100% that I'd have no issues with it I'd definately bring it down (what the bride has to say on the matter is another issue ). And unlike most blokes here who could probably do a full engine rebuild on the side of the road, I'm as useless as tits on a bull when it comes to working on cars.
And you gotta remember Trev, this is a 48 year old car with 48 year old components on it......It takes time to build confidence to take such an old car on long trips
In the next month I'll be putting some new (taller) tyres on it and seatbelts. Without either of those 2 it aint going nowhere
Count yourselves lucky that I'm taking it to Berrima, which is only an hour and half from home

All of the car that are going are too Cal .
I remember feeling the same way before my first trip to the Nowra nationals, then thought "stuff it" if it breaks down the RACV will tow it home and supply a car to finnish our holiday , not a bad deal I think , what ever you decide to bring down will be good, Trev .
