Mr. Smooth.

I agree with your sentiment totally on club registered cars.
MildFB will not be club registered. Sure it's a gutsy, difficult and challenging modification, but thats why we are doing it.. It wont be like any other FB-EK. Keep up to date with our progress on the web site.

I do have, but all factory parts, The strut towers are VB, and I have only fabricated the inner skirts.

My loop hole with the 350 fittment was that the total weight of the car was 1325kgs. Some may say but the EK 1150, yes in standard form not modified. I have changed this and stiffened mine, far more than just a chassis kit mounted on a standard body.
I don't know how I would go if I were to build another one the same, and try to get it passed. Maybe it would have no chance of being put on the road.

But I have heard there will be lots of changes to regs pretty soon. Which is going to be sad for the modified builder.

how is that a mild custom?
mild custom is like andrews fb, devilrods ek etc etc...

If you bagg it, thats definitely custom, if you put a v8 - definitely custom, roof chop - u would have to be insane to call it mild

either was its very cool and i look forward to seeing what you finish with!

My opinion about a custom/mild custom is, I don't see a standard bodied car with bolted in running gear and a different paint job, like DR's, mine and many more can be called even a "mild custom", I think there needs to be some sort of fabrication involved to be called a mild custom. Then the jump to "custom" to me there needs to be some sort of physical change to the body (chop top) as-well as the Fabrication work.

The MILD CUSTOM / FULL CUSTOM debate has been going on longer than you've been on this earth & still has'nt been fully answered with a definitive guideline!

I'd LOVE to know the answer to that old gem. It seems every car show I've been to in the last 30 years has different clarifications on this subject. If you think that's a hard question you should see how fickle they get when they try to categorize my mate the 'Blue Dog of Happiness's' V8 Volkswagen bettle! If he goes to a Hot Rod show it's a custom VW, yet he cruises up to a VW show it's a HOT ROD!

go figure!

Just thought I'd show the latest effort.
New tunnel was welded in today. Came from a wrecked Chrysler CM, it was just the right shape at the front and just needed a little work to fit it into the Holden rear. Can you see the offset driveline? Little known fact for non Chrysler owners, is that the car was based on the American design catering for fat drivers, and offset driveline to the right, but in Australia I guess we are catering to fat passengers.
Toyota Camry seating is trialled. Rear seats will tilt forward to allow for the rear to lie flat as it is in the Camry. That's it till next month. I'll keep you posted. Cheers.

Tell me more about back seat as I want to put a flat seat in my sedan was thinking of useing seat out of station wagon but hard to find hinges and catches and anything else I need (anyone have what I need to do the alteration)

Hi Billy. Sorry for the delay I have been busy (not FB unfortunetly). The seats we chose were just based on width really. Commodore too wide. So we searched the wreckers for suitable width and we found Camry in good nick. We liked the way the rear will fold flat in 60/40, they already come with hinges standard. There will always be fabrication work to be done to make it work. The whole camry interier including centre console cost only $200. Anything can be done, give it a go.

The latest effort for MAY...

The Chrysler front chasis rails narrowed to allow the fitting the Holden Malloo radiator. Existing Chrysler bumper mountings will be used for the FB bumper. Luckily, they are in the right position.

Getting the seating position right. There are rules for visibility, done the calculations and now we are fabricating the brackets.

The new valance panel...Yes I know it's an EK panel, that doesn't make it an EK! It will sit below the bonnet and will not be obvious.

Latest additions for June....seats!

JUNE 2009. Using the cardboard template below, we made the front seat rail brackets. Folding steel using nothing more than an anvel, G clamps and hammers. Some people spend a lot of money for the interior. So far the bill is less than $300. If we need a new set, we can easily get a replacement at the wreckers, and bolt straight in.

Rear bottoms fold up to allow the tops to lie flat in 60/40. The backs fit neatly between the arches with out modification.
The rear seats have to be at this height. The floor is flat because of the full chassis kit underneath, no room for a foot well.

A bit more done matching the Chrysler firewall with a lowered windscreen and dash, the tricky bit around the front doors is next, I'll keep you posted.
