Nothings too far gone mate. I've seen guys build amazing cars out of nothing. Some of you guys would shit your dacks at the cars that are being built over in the states and in Finland and that direction.. Go on the HAMB and you'll see what i mean.
All good points deadsled, but I don't think you paid $5000 for your starting point, thats what hurts the most  , Trev 8) .

After a second look, have you thought about looking for another parts car? Maybe make one out of two? Its a big outlay to write it off completely without trying to fix it.

I guess it also depends on what he had planned for it? Just a run around or a good clean stocker, modified or custom? Or...... :?

What a real shame...

Ebay and some of the villians that misrepresent their products on their have a lot to answer for..

I think Devilrod has a good point, maybe a donor car could give up its vitals for a rescue..??

I pulled out lost the $500 deposit
but a week later got my FB from E bay   and it was better than described

First one I guess was my fault should look before you bid but whoever is selling should be honest (Im put too much faith in the "Race" I guess)

EBay is a gamble.

The inital car, it's not good, but it is repairable, from what you can see in the photos. Obviously would have been good to know what you were getting in the first place, and paid a fair amount. The real problem is not the car, just that you paid too much for what you got. I have fixed up a car in about the same condition, but it is a long and time consuming task to do it right. :( :x

I noticed the brake and clutch pedals are also very close together ?

Hey Craig, Red with a Red. What's not to like. 8) 8)

Your too fussy, what's a "little" rust. The Chrome does look good. If I see it in Brisbane, I'm going to buy it.

Do you know if the owner would have change for a $100 note.

Steve,
I may be able to help you out with some of those rusted areas.
I have a parts car with the rear still intact. I will take some photos and post over the weekend.
Stewart has already taken the drip mould areas unfortunately.

Regards Greg

EK283,

You wouldn't have any Sill to Rear wheel arch Dog leg sections would you? I'm in dire need of one for each side.

PM me if you can help.

Cheers mate.

Steve,

Told ya mate. I was sure DR was a Hamber as well.. having an A Roadster as well as his EK. Jim is an amazing fabricator and he isn't the only guy on there that has started with something so rough and turned it into a car.

As i usually tell people.. Some of the Hot Rods being built by Hambers are at such a rediculously higher level than Aussie cars. Given some Aussies are incredibly talented.. guys like Jim, and Brian Bass would shit all over any Australian fabricator.

I hope to have my Chevy built somewhat similar to Brian Bass' styel of building.. utter artwork.

Guilty as charged..... HAMBer indeed. Don't underestimate the aussie builders Nick, there are heaps here who don't do it to get noticed. But turn out some great stuff, some off who are members here.

The yanks have no excuse to build bad cars as they have all the goods. Its us Aussies that have all the talent & inguinity/inginuity/engineooity (just pick one.)

Nick

I wish I was as smart and switched on as you are at your age.
And I would not have wasted the last 30 odd years learning what I have so far.

You seem to believe what ever you see and read on the net

On my first trip to the US, it took two days and one car show to change my attitude on the Us and Them when it came to who built a better all round car. Reading magazines and looking at features of what they built was vastly different to what I saw first hand. Even some of the cars featured were not what I expected.

But there are some stunning cars built over there, by shops and home builders, and there are a lot of very average and down right scarry ones as well.

And a little thing you may not know is that in some of the better shops in the States, some of the guys out the back doing the hands on work are Australian Kiwis Poms and Swedes
