Has anyone done a thread that shows the removing of and re fitting of the steering wheel and horn ring. My steering wheel was pulled apart so long ago that i have no idea what i need to put the horn ring back together.

With the help of this thread and my dad, I just finished restoring my steering wheel and saw someone else was enquiring about steering wheel restoration, so here goes the step by step with pics.
1. Remove wheel (I just repaired a spare one and will swap them when the time comes)
2. Sand it back.
3. Use a Dremel to cut the cracks bigger and put holes in where to repair.
4. Use Megapoxy to fill cracks.
5. Leave dry for a couple of days.
6. Sand it back.... again!
7. Spray with "Spray on putty/primer"
8. Sand it back AGAIN!!
9. Paint it... we took it to a painter to get painted in 2 pac black.
Voila! One shiny new steering wheel that I'm very happy with!

Started looking at repairing my wheel today.
Good to see a few ideas on the forum.
I'm going to do the spare one first.
I can't see any reason why body filler can't be used to fill the cracks.
Just wonder if anyone has used body filler before (bog) and had any problems.....

I would have thought bog will crack, need something with a little flex.

I used JB Weld. This is a super tough 2-part epoxy. It's very tough and sticks like shit to a blanket. Used old toothbrush and some prepsol to clean out the cracks. When mixed, it's fairly runny, so two or three applications works well, and the runnyness means it penetrates all the way to the core. Once finished under a nice coat of two pack, it won't crack.

i used the knead it opoxy filler like you had Trev and it worked well for quite a while, but it has eventually re cracked where it meets the original plastic of the wheel. Has the JB weld held up well? how did the MegaPoxy hold up?
Edit, just re rread through the posts...it has held up well considering its been almost 5 years since i had painted it.
