One of the main reasons I like this car is driving comfort. Upright position and I use a mesh lumbar support. I can drive 8 to 10 hours a day all week with two hourly stretch breaks no issues. The Forrester i used to drive 45 minutes, get out and hardly could walk.

Normal driving, easy on the right foot, used 84 of the 90 litre tank for about 760km worked out bang on 11 litres per hundred. Same as the FB?! Happy with that. 8)8)

The V8's use less fuel than the sixes did , unless you get an (ahem) tailwind - once over about 130 they chew the fuel like nobodys business

Yeh Blacky off road work also. I won't be doing much of either. Swag of boards on the roof,camping gear and or wider rubber will make for a premium no doubt.

My son wants one of those so if another good one pops up let me know - most we see down here are flogged out mining cars with more rust than paint.

You know how it is when you get a new car Ric. All of a sudden you notice them everywhere, and a lot of younger drivers are getting them to do the big loop.

Rob your son needs to be ready to part with around $50k to get a decent one.

Yeah I know - they are holding their value amazingly well - I told him he's dreaming - think a Playdo will serve him better at this point - an early 2000's for around 20k

It’s pretty amazing how any Toyota holds its value.

I have just spent 2 weeks finding my sister and her husband a new (second hand) car, as their old girl pooped it’s pants.

They had $20k to spend, and they wanted their first SUV.
They wanted a Toyota as the have a Toyota Alphard as my niece is in a wheel chair.
This car is mainly for my brother in law and sister to drive as the Alphard is used by carers etc.
The best I could find under $20k was a 2010 bog standard RAV with 120k and no stability control.
So yep
Toyota’s have the best re sale value of all.

I got them a 2014 one owner, 90k on the clock Kia Sportage Series 2 platinum diesel for $17k. Still has 6 months factory warranty.
It has every bell and whistle you can think of plus a full range of air bags, stability control etc etc.
really nice car.

Toyota does have a reputation as unbreakable !! That's why the prices stay high.

I understand that other cars have all the bells and whistles but in my opinion its just all to much to go wrong.

I want a simple machine built for purpose that is basic and Toyota offers it so I'm in that market share.

By the way I have owned 3 Toyota Troop Carriers in my life and all reached over 250000 KMS and when I sold them were still going strong.

I ended up with a GU patrol because of children and I must say its not a bad car either, but I do prefer the simplicity and industrial feel of a Troopy.

I work in the mining game , the Tojos have been standard minesite vehicles for years , many others have been tried but they don't last . The mining companies have been bringing in 6 cylinder LHD utes over here for years , they aren't registerable but it doesn't matter for what they are needed for.
I have been waiting since November for a new dual cab , they are hard to get new which has forced the prices of second hand ones right up , I met a bloke who buys tarted up Rangers new, he orders one every 3 months, puts a couple of thousand kays on them and sells them for more than he paid because people don't want to wait for a new one !!!!

Ive used a mini iPad for years - always good but next one I'm going to get is a VMS or HX-1 as they seam to be the only ones updating their maps regularly.
