Hi Nick, looks like you've got a beauty there, however.....

I'm starting to think that I should just do a tidy up rather than a full resto but I will wait to strip a few items first and see where that leads.

….. I can see a full resto coming up It's hard to stop once you start digging and finding things to fix.

Either way, have fun with it mate, and keep your progress posted.

Hi Nick. Great looking ute you have there. Love the labels on the wiring- you're making it easy for reassembly, that's for sure. Definitely worth spending the time now pulling it all down and doing the restore to ensure it stays in top shape for another 60 years. Given how rust free this one is, it will be really interesting to see the bottom of A pillars and other notorious rust prone spots like the kframe/firewall joins etc. If you have none at all it must have gone from the factory straight to a dry outback farm! Thanks for making the effort to post your progress. I'm a bit jealous as you've almost started at the finish

Looking really good Nick - Very interesting how far these cars traveled to find their first home - a Melbourne car ending up in Nerandera is a cool story in itself I think.
Get the gurney out and blow the crap out of it. It wont matter how hard you try that red dirt will start to appear again in a year after your finished - it's in every single nook and cranny.

Rolled the Ute out of the shed and gave it a good gerni before pushing back in and remove a few more items.
Very happy with how everything came apart. Also started building a rotisserie.

Thanks for posting your progress Nick. Well worth taking apart and restoring it now given how pristine it is. That's the cleanest firewall ever!

Looks to be in remarkable condition. That rotisserie you are building looks pretty fancy. Bonnet hinge captive nuts are good pick up point at the front. Bumperettes captive nuts and a long bolt through rear spring shackle eye works well at rear. I haven't had a Ute on rotisserie but starting point for centre of gravity will be fairly low. On sedans the fuel filler hole is the benchmark but ute could be lower. Looking forward to progress updates.

A great car in good condition it will restore very well and by the looks of it will be done properly.

It’s a tough one but I’m lovin the debate. Sorry it’s at your expense Nick. We know it’s your car and all. My 2c, I would try and retain the paint and interior original. Clean out and fisholene all cavitys. Treat the floor and unseen panels and refurbish the mechanicals.

I’m looking forward to see what ever you decide to do.
