Nitro FB Lucerne and Alpine Blue revamp
Re: Nitro FB Lucerne and Alpine Blue revamp
The new mats are very nice though. I do like the fleck effect. Inside my panel van had been done. You would have to be confident doing a mat but then I suppose if it went wrong you could wipe it off quickly and have another go.

Re: Nitro FB Lucerne and Alpine Blue revamp
Sorry for hijack. 1986 I Had a red fleck Tuscany yellow EK215 with original mat but it was falling apart. I remember it being plain black. Being a young idiot I ripped it out and replaced with black carpet red motor Aussie four speed tunnel cut etc. HX buckets, oh dear.SunnyTim wrote:All FB specials had flecked floormats, the colour matched the trim combo. What made my ute a special? Just having chrome and guard spears?SunnyTim wrote:All FB specials had flecked floormats, the colour matched the trim combo. Re: Nitro FB Lucerne and Alpine Blue revamp
Paint looks great and I like what you did with the mats and the fleck. If I can’t save my originals with red fleck I might give your method a try. Did you use a special paint to stick to the rubber?

Re: Nitro FB Lucerne and Alpine Blue revamp
This might be a stupid question , but why wouldnt you paint the plenum and the pillars when you were painting , say , the roof ??? I know you have painted heaps of cars and obviously you know what you are doing - apart from being an EK fan rather than the far superior FB .................

I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

I will send you some tissuesSunnyTim wrote: Mon Aug 31, 2020 9:45 pmI just got sick of doing prep and this piece sucked. Painting the car gave me the motivation to finish the last piece. I had done the prep on the edges near the guards so no risk of harming fresh paint.....Blacky wrote:This might be a stupid question , but why wouldnt you paint the plenum and the pillars when you were painting , say , the roof ??? OH AND IF IT WAS AN EK THE PLENUM WOULD HAVE BEEN 20 TIMES EASIER TO PREP!

Worth the extra work imho. What about the chrome bits? I assume you are leaving vent cover in place.

Re: Nitro FB Lucerne and Alpine Blue revamp
Mmmm, EK plenum cover, the second ugliest part of the car, looks like the unsuccessful waterfall grill in the AU Falcon, yuck! C'mon Tim, you know the FB is the nice one, you've just got more EKs.
Re: Nitro FB Lucerne and Alpine Blue revamp
Tim, when you are bare metal painting, does the inside of the roof gutters (where the roof joins them) need a run of seam sealer or will just painting them suffice?
