Thanks very much Rob. It seems that for your join you have made it seamless, part of the reason for my confusion. For FBs some people are making it one continuous curve/join, others are leaving a gap (like between the B column triangle piece and the sill).
I think new FBs had a gap between the sill and dog-leg showing but I haven't been able to see one clearly in photos or live
Perfect. That's exactly what I was after. Many thanks Greg.
Its been a bit strange this - I'm guessing cars came out of factory with this gap, but over time as repairs have been made the gap has been covered on many cars now.
You’re on to it. I’m a snob about that little detail on the outside. Inside the wheel arch not so concerned. Greg’s little gusset panel is a tidy job. Fortunately my ute was pretty good in this area and got away with filling a couple of small holes. The wheel facing side of the lip I remember now was filled with lead under original paint. You will no doubt find some.

Yeah I’d be very careful using lead. A quality filler is the go I reckon. Just be sure it is on clean metal, or epoxy two pack that is on metal conditioned and dewaxed clean metal.

Any photos available of the piece on a sedan that closes the hole between the inner and outer sills at the base of the dog-leg/wheel arch? Greg posted a great photo of what he has made and it would help me greatly to see what it looks like on the car. I'm trying to keep things looking as original as I can.
Many thanks

This is the original with factory finish apart from a small piece I made for the curved sill section, rusted there as usual.
I also drilled the hole for future rust control.
Thanks so much Greg, I appreciate the effort you had to go to to get those pic's. I'm sure others will also find them very helpful. I'll be trying to finish my passenger side dogleg/wheelwell early next week- this piece being the last bit of what has been and extensive rebuild that has already chewed up a week of my life. The drivers side appears to be much less damaged. Will post pics of results when complete.
