Great Photo's looked like a great event.
In Trev's last post can anyone confim if the Ek in picture 8th from the bottom (rego JXE 950) is Shailmar Blue with a snowcrest white roof?
Thanks.

Hmmm...that's interesting. The paint code on the tag of my EK is Strata Blue and I've many times wondered whether it's the original paint job. More than a few people have told me it's a re-spray in Wedgewood Blue, but that's never seemed right to me...the colour just isn't what I've come to know as WB.
I realise that photos and computer monitors will never show a precise match to real colour, but the car in question in these photos looks to be exactly the same shade of blue as I have. With the condition of the paint (getting pretty thin in some spots, and crow's feet in others) I wouldn't be too surprised if the car is actually still sporting it's original paint.
Is there any way to tell this for certain...or is it really just a guessing game this far down the track?

Hi All
The original colour of my car JXE 950 is definately strata blue with snowcrest white roof. It has been re-sprayed some time before I bought it. The interior colour matches pretty well with the exterior, (The interior paint is factory) but the original exterior paint appears a tad lighter than the re-spray. I can only put this down to a combination of exposure and age. In short, Yes, Stata blue.
PS the car is originally from a farm in Queeensland, where perhaps cars (like people) get a bit too much sun sometimes.

Hi Bluehaze
Mine is exactly the same - interior a slightly darker colour than exterior...barely noticeable unless you do something like remove the glovebox lid and hold it against an exterior panel.
Figured it was either a re-spray that didn't quite match, or the sun has worked it's evil on the exterior.
Wouldn't mind seeing exactly what a genuine Strata Blue (non-respray) paintjob looks like in the flesh one day. Not convinced that mine is original spray.
In the next few years I plan on taking her back to metal, fixing up the little dents (and no doubt rust) that's lurking underneath, and giving her a new lick of paint. Will probably stay with the original colour scheme as I think it's a pretty nice shade of blue.

Hi Scott
I've toyed with the idea of the bare metal thing with my car, but after weighing the "Original car Vibe" thing which the car now has against losing all the scratches and stone chips to get a good looking finish, I decided to leave this one alone, at least for the time being. Experience has taught me that youy can never expect a job to be as strightforward as you planned. Either way, I'm in the middle of a bare meal, ground-up rebuild of an FB sedan for the Missus. Hopefully you can make the trip down to Yamba next year, you can compare Strata blues against my one.
Regards
Dick

We're hoping to do the Nationals next year, but not sure if we'll make it as I'm pretty sure it's the same weekend as Wintersun which we always make a point of getting to. Maybe we'll try to road trip it and go to both.
Might see you there.
Cheers, Scott

Hey Tim, is the paint still good, and if so, is it for sale? I tried having some made up for me at an Autobarn and it's not even close to the colour on the car. Again, my duco may have been re-sprayed in a different blue to the Strata it's tagged with, but the mix is pretty useless to me.

part of the problem was more than likely autobarn
go somewhere that only sell automotive paints and supplies there should be someone there that can eye match yor paint
