Thanks everyone for your encouragement got a bit side tracked with the ute my girlfriend brought a project car too! But now i better update everyone on the progress with the Ute
firstly spent a day or so getting more pieces back to bare metal totallt forgot about the spare wheel door and a few other pieces that were sitting in the shed.
the interior has been cleaned of rubbish sanded and primed, repair has been completed on the dash repair just needs to be stop puttied
Due to the damage on the passenger guard it was decided to spray a few hard to reach places before the guard was placed on. The guard will be left on while spraying so this was the only option. It was great to FINALLY see a bit of colour (had tears in my eyes)
Now to the passenger side rear panel was great, door lined up nicely but the front guard......

everytime we thought it was right there was something else wrong took weeks but here is the end result
So now were just going over the body checking for anything we might have missed before the multiple layers of primer. The Tailgate has been sent to Glenn at Just Rust to apply a new skin then were nearly ready to spray some more colour...
Enjoy!!!

well the Torrie is finally finished so its all hands on deck to get the Ute completed by the end of Jan 2008 all prep work for the body is completed and is booked in for the booth and oven first week of Jan for the colour
So while the body work is nearing completion time to start on a few other things. Matt aka (EK Holden Fan) was very generous to give me a few HB Torana Filters for the twin carbs, spent a few hours preparing and painting them red to go with the red lines that will be painted on the finned rocker cover and manifold (igonore the old carbies used to see what they'd look like)
Comments and opinions always welcomed
Over the coming weeks ill be polishing the chrome work and cleaning the interior so everythings ready to bolt back on
Full Steam Ahead!!!!

ute is looking really good so is the LJ.
i'm still trying to decide if those air cleaners look any good thou.
personally i would have hunted down the x2 aircleaner or gone with the holley style of aircleaners.
one thing i would recomend thou is once it's painted you may wana buy a 4litre tin of fisholine and a degreasing gun. while the rooflining , dash ect is out spray in all those impossible to get places untill the fisholine starts running on the ground.
the car may smell like rotton fish for a couple of months but the benifits will outweigh that.
keep up the good work

Quick update rained on saturday so we were stuck with limited things to do.... So we thought lets tackle the tray. Repaired any dints (minimal) and sprayed tray in a Body deadener type black paint think the black looked good at first it wasn't until i looked at it tonight that i realised that the paint had reacted and turned like jelly
So the dilemma is...... Black for the tray with speckle flek (chook shit) or to go colour (tuscany yellow) in the tray opinions would be great
Cheers Adam

G'day Kingaz,
My opinion would be to paint the inside tray in Tuscany Yellow.
Also, I like the two red air cleaners for the twin carbs.Looks period like. What are they from originally??
Terry.

Hey Terry
The air cleaners are from what i believe HB Torana i stand to be corrected though thanks for your input im starting to sway towards the yellow in the tray also

G'day hope everyone had a great Australia Day
After seeing the progress from Malcom over the past few weeks it was time i pulled my finger out and got back into the Ute. After the black reacted the tray was once again stripped down to bare metal all minor imperfections repaired and primered. Saturday the first real bit of colour on the ute was sprayed VERY happy with the result
Cabin will be finished and painted this saturday so its all down hill from here
After the chaos with the black in the tray heres how it looks in Tuscany yellow
Cheers
Adam

Hi Adam,
certainly like the tuscany over the black - lighter colours to me are better for revealing any problems which start to form (not that there will be any)
Also like Munro's idea of the fishoil - love that stuff - just make sure you don't apply it to anything you later want to spray acrylic over (either primer or top coat - been there, done that - just ask me................ another blocking back session).....
frats,
Rosco
