That Ranch Grey RanchWagon is a HORN CAR! My old green Tank looks like a low mileage "Granny Job" but it's actually had it's guts thrashed out and it was pieced together using the chrome and panels of several cars, plus a lot of bits that had already seen a lifetime of abuse! Scotty did buff and polish it up when he was last here, but I think he needs to come up and do it again please. I was just driving my FB after a week of driving our VR Commodore round the Blue Mtns. and it seems pretty good to me. Iv'e come back a little poor so my Tank can stay put away till pay day.

That car looks even better now as it has a tube grille and custom front bar. Having trouble finding the pic though....

Thanks for your kind comments Timbo. I don't mean to put down my own car, just to say that it's probably one of the only ones around that didn't cost the owner the earth over the last 29 years, and has been used, on full registration, by me with no cotton wool involved. It's on it's second steering wheel, second set of rear leaf springs, third second hand engine, third automatic, and third drivers side window winder mechanism, and when I bought it for $1700 in 1984, the trim looked new, but now alas, the front seat under the cover looks like a German Sheperd ate it! I am trying to collect original fabric and vinyl to fix this with not much success as Aussie assembled Tanks had Unique trim unlike USA and Scotty wants me to go a custom Lead Sled (This is Scotty!) look but I can't do it because I like it how it is. Our Ranch Wagon feels like it will never get done, but I will keep it simple, with just a home Acrylic paint job (Original type colours) do the brakes and exhaust and thats about it. Whew! I'm raving!

All I can ever see when I look at a picture of Tony's Tank is his big grin V8 sound shortly followed by some tyre squeal

It does look very smooth. Have they used bumper parts or maybe the front apron, stone tray from something Chrysler from the late 50s like a Chrysler Windsor or Desoto Firesweep.
59 F ords have a really good looking front in my opinion, but I like the earlier "Floating Star" grille better than the one with a million rectangles like a mouth organ. Mine is the rectangle one but I think it's staying in. If I had that grey wagon I'd lose the &*#@ letters on the bonnet and Toss the visor. (Sorry Sputzy!) I'd have the nice tube grill, but in the standard opening with the dip in the bottom, and I'd go and find the original bumper. I'm hardly a very adventurous customizer am I!

I like what they did...you can still see it's a Tank, but the bumper & stonetray has made it look wider by using all horizontal lined pieces.
And Tony...I think you should retain the "million rectangles" grill..they do look better built than the "Stars" grill, in my honest opinion.

Looks like this tank camper is on the road again (sort of)

I spotted this on a car site on Facebook tonight, reported to have been seen near Moe today.
