Geez I'm going to struggle on this Wangaratta trip. Everyone has either 3.55's, new motors, 5 speed boxes, etc.

I'm stuck with a whining 3.89 diff, a gearbox that leaks like crazy, and a tired grey  :econfused:

Be a little careful here. The 3.55 from a GTR Torana might not fit, just check that.
Anyone any ideas on that?

I think the trick is it needs to be course spline. I'm assuming the diff centres were all the same for all banjo diffs (fitment wise) ?

I think you will find apart from 2.78 and 3.08 which have long bolts to locate them to the housing all corse spline centres interchange . And I,ll think youd also find if our over inflated advertiser had a sniff it came from the same post code as any diff centre from an original GTR it would have another zero on the end of the price

Good advice  All Bango centres are interchangeable no matter what the housing/vehicle, but the later model diffs (3.08 + 2.78's etc.) do run a long bolt in the lower drivers side of the diff that is threaded into the housing. You can still use these diffs, but have to leave the long bolt out and either plug weld the hole or fill it full of Chinese Weld to prevent the slippery stuff from falling out

It's all too hard! :ughh:

How much should I be looking at paying? This guy is obviously not a reputable seller in all your eyes and I'd rather not give him the time of day if that's the case.

He's reputable, but VERY expensive.

Geez Tim, mine feels like it's going to blow up at 70mph. Happy at 60, starts to moan a bit at 65.

I think the Vic guys have it the best. Even the last NSW nats was closer for the Vic boys than the Sydney mob

Not that I'm complaining :econfused:

If you prefer to be buying in person try some of the wreckers. These things aren't that rare yet, you just need to go to he right places. There are plenty of Wreckers, Holbusters is another in Thomastown that's on the recommended list here
