You've seen it dressed 'Retro 60's' & "Grandpa", and now I'm putting together a third disguise.

This time I've got some 14x8 & 14x6 Chromies for a 70's look.

'Old Holdens & Chromies to me is as Aussie as it gets.'

Heres a sneek preveiw of the rears, fitted with dagy tyres
while Im waiting for my new F70-14 Mickey Thompsons to come.

I love chromies, you couldn't get more Aussie if you had a meatpie as a hood emblem .

I do agree with you (AUST)Mod, But 215/60-13 where the biggest
tyre on these rims I could find that would tuck inside the gaurds.
Since these pics where taken, I've fitted Tiny 155/13 up front to
help with propotions.



If anyone knows of a 215/70-13 I could swap these tyres onto the 'Grandpa' set.

are they real plates? looking good man, geez those are tiny fronts looking great proportion wise. will post up a pic of my fb with new 15x6 and 15x7s when i get it lowered and the guards rolled

Now, for your question.

In short, No Problems At All.
I haven't put a screwdriver or a spanner anywhere near them.
I did do a lot of homework though, before I had them rebuilt.

I have a big collection of early Australian hot rod magazines,
from 1964 to 1974, with technical articels and specs' on
Grey powered FJ race cars that provided a great referance.

Funnily enough, they generally didn't recommend any more than
two strombergs on anything other than,(what was then) full race motors.

SU's were the go, because they operate with a variable venturi effect,
in the way the carby's open. this helps in keeping the vacuum signal up.

So with the strombergs, It was recommened to me by the bloke who
rebuilt them, to install 'venturi restrictors' REDLINE product to suit Holley
carbs.

These are a metal tube, with a flared end, and split right down one side,
and are arildited (glued) into the base of the carbs.

Strommies like a good strong vacuum signal, so when you fit three carbys, you are dividing what signal you had with one carby, into a third
of that signal, in each of the three carbs.

These restrictors improve, low to mid range response.
the trade off, is you loose a little top end.

I'm cool with that though, because I'm not trying to squeeze every
ounce of power out of it.

Just wanted a lumpy idle, and cool tunes out the back.

All the wiring is, under the dash,
Attached to the outside of the inner gaurd,
or under the frame rails.

I did rewire the car from the dash to the front,
leaving only the interior light & the tail lights as they were.

All the wiring is in flexable condiuts.
All the firewall holes are filled.
The battery is in the boot.
The speedo cable is rerouted inside the cabin

It really unclutters the engine bay, and looks neat.

I even fitted the horn under the front of the car.

People have asked, "Does it run, or is it just for show"
(not sure if they were real bright though )
