So, I've been thinking about what sorta colour this will be and what will be added to it.

Definitley thinking mild custom.

For paint colour, I love this thing



But, I don't have a spare hundred grand to fly Gene out to do a fade job so thinking this would look closeish and be achievable.





It's a factory colour on the mitsy 380's... remember the 380's? the car that sank Mitsubishi Australia lol. At the moment I'm getting conflicting stories as to what the colour name is, some say it's called Adrenaline and others say gold rush. Either way the pics don't really do it justice, it looks really good on the road though and as soon as I saw it I thought it would look really good on a custom car. It seems to have a natural fade effect on it and really changes depending on the surrounding light.

Does anyone know where you get the taillights with the blue dots in them?

For wheels I am thinking of going 14" steelies I'm wondering how people get around the fact that original fb brake drums have the 5 raised triangles on them and if you bolted up normal flat wheels on them you get problems with the wheel not seating properly etc. I've also been warned about it warping the brake drums when you pull the nuts up.

Stance naturally will be as low as I can possibly go.

Engine will look something like Blacky's ute (drool, drool love that car) grey with twin carby's, finned rocker cover etc.

At the moment I am just keeping an eye open for parts I need and trying to draw up a plan in my mind of where it will go. I would love the ute to have suicide doors but I fear the kits out there are cheap chinese junk and I will struggle to find anyone locally who knows what to do with them, so people won't want to touch it or it will probably end up costing around $2500.

The grey motor gods have been veeeeery kind to me this week

kissed on the d1ck doesn't even begin to describe the luck I've had.

First I found a Speco twin carb manifold complete with carbies linkages etc. For sale on the net and snagged them. Once there to pick it up it came with a few spares like 2 carbies and the grey metal tin is almost full of inner stromberg parts. Got it for a song too .



So I went for the 110 k round trip drive on Saturday morning out to Kapunda, beautiful drive that one! and picked it up. So, now I'm thinking - I need a finned rocker cover now

I came home and pottered around for a bit then decided to have a break and have a quick look for any newly listed parts and found all this...



10 mins up the road...
$50 asking price

No phone number

So I sent him an email straight away and told him if he still had it I would take it and to let me know, I included my mobile number incase he wanted to ring. Wait wait wait. Headed off to my old mans on Sat evening, no reception. About 9:00, go for a walk and find reception check for emails / missed calls. Nothing.

Wake up Sunday and head off to Murray bridge for the swap meet, bought a nasco lockable fuel cap no key for $5 and a teachers whiskey serving tray for $5. As we were leaving I checked the phone again. Nothing. Emailed him again telling I still want it and where I am reception is dodgey. 10 mins later my phone beeps. It's an email from him saying that he has another interested party but if I definitley want it he will hold it I picked it up that day. Story goes he had a boat years ago that ran a grey and he had this left over and sitting the shed for years. He actually said to me "is this stuff getting hard to get or something? I've had about 5 emails from people"

I gave the rocker covers a quick clean and came up with this.


They arn't in the best condition as their off a boat etc but still very workable. I've found a place that will weld up 4 holes in the finned rocker cover which is a relief as I was a bit worried about it. Once that's done I will put them in for a professional polish as they are very tarnished and it would take days doing it with autosol and a rag.

I also rang Mitsubishi and the colour I'm chasing is called Adrenalin and is paint code K04.

I thought I had another win at the Murray bridge swap as well when I spotted a set of 14x7 chromies for $100. I was thinking - when is my luck going to end! turns out they were for hq though.

Well done mate you are having a good run with the grey goodies That smooth alloy cover should polish up well, just a suggestion have you thought about going to an alternator and retiring the generator (much more efficent)

Mick, havn't really thought of changing the generator over. I see it as if it aint broke why fix it. And now I have a couple spare ones if mine ever decide to pack up

Some small progress. I had to take the rocker cover in to a welding place to get the 4 holes filled in the W.E.Y brand rocker cover then onto the polishers along with the other smooth type rocker cover.

I've got the smooth type rocker cover on eBay and hope to get a decent $ for it as it cost me $60 each to get the rocker covers polished. I've already had alot of interest in it which is positive. With the money I get from that I am buying a set of 14x7 ROH Hustler mags for it

I've been thinking lately I might get the grinder out with a wire wheel and go over the rust areas and just give them a coat of kill rust untill it gets it's time to be worked on. I figure as it is now the rust is only going to get worse. Plus if I decide I want to try and sell it (not gonna happen) I can say she's "rust free"

Sunny tim, it's funny you mention that, I'm currently being bullied by a eBay member going by the name fj-2106 as he says it isn't genuine.

It doesn't have any markings on it unfortunately, but I have had it side by side with one that did and it's identical. Can you seriously imagine this looser sending nasty and threatining emails to ALL the people on eBay that list things that arn't genuine Nasco???

So, what's this wofto thing? seen it on here a few times but never heard how it originated.

So, after reading some of Steve Jacksons posts and also Wayne's posts I was keen to give the Kenco "shift it" a try for myself so bought a bottle from Autobahn ($7.95 if memory serves me correctly) and yesterday gave the seat a clean to see how it would come up.





Still a bit more to go but you get the idea

At the moment I'm debating if I should get the stitching fixed up as I'm probably just going to chuck a mexican blanket over it anyway.

Better do something custom to it next, don't want the restorers getting the wrong idea!

Wow that Kenco really did a good job. If you have the dollars I'd consider getting the stitching done as it will just keep tearing and getting worse even with a blanket over it.

if that rocker cover has been sanded and polished over the years
it wouldnt take much to sand that nasco stamp off any way
