Hi Trev,
Just a couple of questions...
How many SA, WA or NT entrants make the nats? (might go myself this year) anyone else?
How many entrants are needed to host or break even with the nats?
2010 would be the year? so we'd have ample time, i probably won't even be living here then so would be making the trip myself.
I did the Van Nats last year Tuncurry/Forster and i've got to agree travelling is half the fun.

Hemi, as far as I know (whitch is not much) last year Blacky came over from WA and Roger and Lesley from SA has made the trip a few times now (and took home a bag of trophies) but I'm sure there are others!
I can only speek about the numbers of the three nats I've been to whitch has been between 60 to 65 cars, but I don't think there's a sertain number you have to have to hold the event, like SunnyTim said come along to a few held by other clubs, put your 2 bobs worth in and have a great time while your at it

perhaps if we aim for 2012, saying this being 50 years of Ek

and my goal is to have my car done by then. The riverland sounds like a good idea. Even Mt Gambier. A 202 with a 3 speed goin to N.S.W from S.A

. Maybe we should put it to them.

Hi all
i have been following this thread . although i live in Newcastle and forbes isnt that far away i will not be able to make it to the 2007 nats due to lack of dollars...... oooooo Bugger
I am involved with a group of people that are into restoring vintage caravans. You can check us out at
www.vintagecaravans.com... beauty of it all is there is no club, no membership, no president, no treasurer .just a bunch of nutters that enjoy restoring old vans and towing them with classic cars. last year we had a national getogether of about 15 cars and vans at Morgan in S.A.... top spot and no one complained about having to travel 2 maybe three days to get there.
To be fair to those having to make the long boring trip across the bight from W.A We have what is now termed as "the nationals" every second year in . S.A.. The 2008 venue is Mt Gambier during the week leading up to easter which will be the fe/fc nats and a panel van show about 25 miles down the road somewhere.. local.
i plan on heading down in the EK ute ( grey motor / 5 speed celica) towing a vintage teardrop van and stay at blue lake van Park. Party with the van mob and hang around to check out the FE/FC crew as well as the van show. Then leave sunday and head back along the G.O.R and take a few days of the following week to head back to Newy.
Would be a great opportunity to catch up with a few of you Adelaide "locals" and knock down a few drinks.
Whats all this got to do with planning the nats???.... bugger all i suppose. Just a non car club members view of the topic. There are a lot of us out there that love our old oldens and would be prepared to travel to the nats ( finances permitting) if it was held in S.A
You have my vote for a FB/EK S.A National in say 2010 or 2012.

I know the descision where to hold the Nationals
is not decided on this forum,
but I'd like to throw my 2 cents worth in if I may.
Stingrays idea to hold it in Mildura is a good one,
as is Adelaide's turn for the 50th birthday of either the FB or EK,
I would love to come to Forbes,
but it looks as though I'd be travelling alone,
& in the car by myself.
Thats a L-O-N-G trip.
HEY I JUST HAD AN IDEA
HAVE THE WESTERN AUSTRALIAN NATS

IN ADELAIDE
That way its central to everyone

Gday Reddo
Stingray here,seen ya round B4
ie:oldholden,vintage caravan,and here
Recently aquired a 50s S.A built caravan
and posted some pics on vintagecaravan.com
under the subject:my vintage caravan
would be good to have it ready for Mt Gambier 08
have touched base with an S.A v.c member- ray
who also has a teardrop and a vintage Holden

-is it contageous?
still contemplating FB/EKnats from S.A.this year
time is runnin out

and havnt heard of any other S.A. definates
the whole'safety of travelling in a group'could be the final contributing
factor that gets me there.so if your from S.A. and your also thinkin along the same lines say something soon!
anyhow reddo im sure our paths will cross someday
and look forward to it-especially if beer is involved
if you're ever in my neck of the woods(Adelaide)

last year, when I met you!
Skinney front cross ply's
Triple carb grey
drum brake front
NO HEATER
Its a L-O-N-G way

Hi Thommo, I remember my first nationals (Nowra NSW) trip, It was probably just over 1200 k's one way and I'd just got my car on the road, drove around the block a couple of times.
I was shitting myself, thinking I'd never make it!
Since then we've been to Tenterfield a 5000 km round trip, and The Lake Hume resort in Albury last year a 1000 km round trip (just up the road), but I took my family on a round trip through Merimbula and over the Great Dividing Range to visit a few mate's on the way.
Now I've done a few long trips, I don't hesitate to pack the car up, check all the vital liquids and off we go

.
So grab yourself a spare timing gear (steal) and we'll see you guys there,
Trev
