The WW info is rough, and it still has some unanswered questions in it, but it is not a bad starting point. I left the new "Stromberg emissions gear" stuff in the file I sent you, as the various bits of emissions kit were prevalent in the WW era.

Cheers,
Harv

Don’t do what I did, get sucked in and buy the kit for $70 on eGay. Around $35 mark at decent parts supplier. Also needed an insulator or spacer $20ish at car parts plus. I’m thinking about making a heatshield out of light galv sheet, or modify something if need be. Couple of swap meets coming up.

Will likely replace the auto choke with manual.

Bought another WW at Strath swap last weekend. This is a 23-3078 from a manual HQ 253 And closer in jetting to the 6cyl editions. Has the correct timing advance port for a manual.

No fuel bowl to canister port but I'm wondering what this thing in the top is. Looks to be some form of port that has been blanked.ImageImage

I haven't got my notes here with me on the HQ changes, but the location would suggest float bowl vent (idle vent valve).

Hi Clay,

Yes &*#@ do use those on their inlet manifolds especially the 302's.

I would be interested in that bit as my xb has its one corroded where the heater hoses connect.

Let me know.

Thanks Greg

Yours Greg though not quite corroded through. They should be made thicker or brass. PM your address.

I’ve been looking in to plumbing up PCV to my X2 setup. From the US I can get spacers for BVOX-2 base. The X2 bodies are BVUX-2, which means the only difference is that the spacer bores would have a 4mm step in, then back out to the base of the manifold. I wonder if this is likely to create mixture issues.

The spacers are available in a 1/2” phenolic @ $104.43 gst inc delivered, or a 1” aluminium @ $136.68 gst inc delivered. I don’t think bonnet clearance will be an issue. My mate did make me a pair from a couple of old alloy timing gears but I’m not impressed with them.

Any thoughts folks?

With the exhaust stove removed, heat soak won't be much of an issue - ally should be fine. For the step, some work with a hole saw (or die grinder) will open them up.

Price seems a little steep for glorified ally plate - I've got a good slab here if you want a chunk to make your own (think it is 8mm, could be 12mm plate).

Cheers,
Harv

Pretty much what LC GTR ran but your ww could well be off a 253 or 302 fraud. The 253 carb runs well on a mild 186. What is the number on the float bowl?
