yep bolt straight in just did one the other day
2 things the axles can be pr!cks they have like a retainer behind the brake backing plate
also with the 3.08 and 2.78 the 2 bottom bolts are long you will have to get a nut welded insid the housing for the long bolt to go in (there are shonkier methods that will work but can be tricky) maybe just look at 3.36 which is normal bolt in

Seriously if you run a 3.08 with your grey it sort of negates the effort of putting the 5 speed in, I'd try the stock diff as is on the highway (unless its stuffed)
or use this link before you start swapping diff centres.

Yeah, depending on how tall 5th gear is, with the 3.08 diff you'll be struggling on anything that's not downhill.
Like Mick said, try the 5 speed with the diff you have now. If you're finding 5th is running out of breath easily , then go a 3.55 ot 3.36.
