We just painted my EK in acrylic as yoo know Trev. My mate (spray painter) who did the roof recommends 2mm for acrylic and 1.4mm is more for 2pac. Both the white and the candy were sprayed using gravity feed guns, come to think of it so was the primer/putty but we used a 3-3.5mm (can't quite remember I'll check the gun tonight). There is less waste using a low pressure gravity feed gun than a suction.
But seeing as I'm no professional these are just things I've picked up over the years, this is my fourth car I've painted. All in acrylic and if maintained properly the finish improves with age I find. Provided you have enough paint on the car.
Speed and Style........... One day I'll get the speed bit.
G'day Rosco long time no see mate, thanks for the lengthy reply, just wanted to get some opinions on COB because I wasn't 100% sure what was involved in the process.
I would never disreguard advice given by anyone that takes the time to give it in the first place,
Trev.
Hi Devilrod, now your going way over my head with the technical stuff like size of spray nozels , Ill get some opinions on that stuff a bit later down the track .

hi trev i would have to agree with rosco and devilrod being a first time painter stick to acrylic, acrylic is a 2mm setup while 2pac is normally 1.4mm, being a spraypainter myself i prefere 2pac, it can be painted outside of a booth but still needs to be rubbed and buffed because of the amount of shit you'll get in the finish very hard work, with the acrlic put plenty of it on, keep your strokes nice and even, if your using cob be very careful with your basecoat you dont want mottle or streaking, allow proper flashoff time, in cold or very humid conditions acrylic will blush so use heatlamps as you said by the time you've sprayed the etch & primer you should have more of an idea whats going on, JUST REMEMBER PREPARATION IS EVERYTHING, give it a go
