was the (dodgy) repair visable, bog isn't always a bad thing when done correctly
have you checked with yor rego authorities re: yor modifications talking to some other S.A. members V8's are becoming quite a hassle

Hey Ratbox, yeah there was a bit of a ripple thru there but not realising the extent of how bad it was! Apparently bog (not the one in the dunny) should only be bout 3-5mm thick from what i heard and mine drum role please... was bout 3INCHES!!!! in some spots!

But as i say its 46 years old or something its gonna have a had a prang at some point in time,
Yeah with the rego i know of a guy that was preaty high up that use to work at the R.T.A so hes helping with alot of the tech stuff.
The EJ van

is my other project or at least one of em

the plan was to get it done while the K was at the painters. Unfortunetly time and money are putting a back spin on that for the moment.
It will be getting the 202 i had rebuilt for the EK with possibly a supra 5 behind that.

Hey V8EK4us, im planning a fairly stout yet streetable motor not quiet sure on the specs yet but ive allowed a decent amount just on the motor alone... prob enough to buy a couple more ol holdens

definetly should sound the buisness tho

I'd have gotten the sword out and committed hari kari if I found that much bog in my quarter panel, though it is fixable.

I usually take a magnet with me now when I look at cars, though these cars have got so much metal on them the magnet sometimes still sticks to visible bog..

Think I'll train my labrador to sniff it out. The fat sh1t can sniff a dog biscuit from 100 metres away. I'm sure i can train him to sniff for the evil bog.

I'll let him loose next time I go look at a car.

"Why's your dog sniffing my car, dude...There's no drugs there".

Anyway, sorry to go off topic. Good luck with the build. I'm sure it will all be worth it in the end

don't know why people are so scared of bog (if used properly) a mate had a '66 impala was a real nice car that he owned over 20 years till one day he had his 1/4 panel taken out, so he decided on full rebuild and bare metal respray, you would not believe the amount of bog that came out of that car

haha thanks Cal yeah i think was caught up in the moment, but i did get the car at a good buy, it already came with hr disk front end and 202 oh and those fantastic 12 slots!!!!

Other than that its preaty tidy, the interior is fair mint bar a small rip in the front bench.

Havent really set a hp figure as yet but i want it to be a torque monster. yet streetable so ill work with that. It will have to go thru the RTA as well so that may effect things too. Definetly no slouch motor tho thats for sure!

I wanted to mini tub and go 15x10's on the rear but i may just settle for 8.5's with a bit of massage work to the guards. Yours is looking the trick and almost talkin me into goin 10's

I have heard tho that if you go too wide then in the wet the water under the treads cant get out and can make the car aqua plain. But at the end of the day after ive spent the big money i dont wanna be takin the car out on a crappy winters day

I think that thing about wide tyres not allowing the water to escape may be a bit of a myth. The way the treads are designed (and someone correct me if I'm wrong here), the water is directed sideways through the smaller grooves, than backwards through the larger grooves

I've had 10 inch tyres on the rear of a few of my cars, and havent had any issues. And you don't see F1 and V8 Supercars coming into the pits and putting pizza cutters on when the rain starts pouring

As for bog, I don't have a problem with it if it's done properly and for the right reasons. I'm amazed when I watch shows like Overhaulin' and American Hot Rod to see the love affair the yanks have with "Bondo" (bog).

You see cars worth hundreds of thousands of dollars being built covered in the stuff.

"Hey Chip, can you whip me up another 50 pounds of Bondo for that Roadster over there"

as for the stuff in the states a mate recently went to sema etc, called into fooses while there for foose to build a car for you starts at $1,000,000

for a riddler contender $2,500,000

and he has complete controll and final say on what is done to yor car

hey classic dont be worried about a little bog , my rear left 1/4 was badly bent had bog repair, i was amazed how easy it was ti beat it out, a little bit of oxy heat and it ended with only a few mm of bog, there are some posts on here or other sites on how 2 check em out and give it a go

Even if you buy a car off the showroom floor there is filler on it somewhere
