Got a set off VintageHolden. Now to install them....Hmmm. :? :? :?
i've read the instructions and had a crack at it on the spare wheel, not too difficult to fit but the instructions say to thoroughly clean the edge of the rim and the tyre at the bead.... :? :? :? how do you get at the rim edge to clean the rim and tyre bead in the shed without resorting to forking out fun tickets to a tyre joint do it for me & pay to remove and replace the tyre. can i get the tyre off the rim myself in the shed? without tyre leavers i can only get it open just enough to slip in a couple of inches of the flapper and can work my way around and get it fitted and sitting right but i just can't clean the rim and tyre bead edge and some instructions i've read tell me to lightly sand the tyre at the bead

will it 'flap' off the rim if i dont thoroughly clean it? can i just give it a good wipe down with some white spirit and get a good result? or should i do the remove and replace thing and install tubes while the tyres are off?

main reason to thoroughly clean the rim is to get a really good seal when not using tubes (not recomended  ) you run alot more chance of leakage as there are two seals on the outer rim instead of one, i've had problems with tyre mobs putting them on then balancing the wheels and putting tap on weights on the rim and tearing the flapper before it even gets on the car (they don't last long then)
hope this helps,
luke.

Rather than start another thread I thought I'd put this question here:

Anyone know where to get anything smaller than a 2" band (on a 15" flapper) in Australia?
What is the smallest band available?

Johns rod and custom only have 2"
Pretty sure Antique Tyres only do 2"
Old Lamp World can get the 1-3/4" but not till mid January, and that ain't much smaller than 2"
