Harv is right.
The standard chev sump HQ style fits in with the CRS front. I got away with removing the lip on the drivers side only but the engine is still very close 10-15mm.
Its amazing how previous repairs can be hidden, the rust you have is pretty normal for the FB EK range.
Keep the pics coming.
Regards Greg

Thanks Harv
You are on the money, its a Hadfield cross member, do you have any pics of the BFH dint I need. I am going around to measure up some inner guards so as I cut mine for the headers. I may do some custom ones later on but at this stage they are going through the inners.

Cheers Greg
I bought the car sight un seen, overall its in great nick no rust at all underneath. I have just gone and had a look at an FB sedan which has a number of rare spares rust panels including two sills.
I intend to smooth out the engine bay but from what I am haering I may recess it a little just for a tidy up.
Plan is for an under dash booster they are a very tidy unit and reasonably priced.
I will update some more pics when I get home

G'day Gazza,
Sorry mate, I don't have any photos of the BFH dent on the firewall - I put my motor in for trial fit, and it went in but rubs. I have a texta mark on the firewall, but need to remove the motor to make the dent (and freshen the old girl up.... we did the valve job on a bench grinder

). I do have some photos though of the CRS headers going through the inner guards, the radiator mounting (VL Commodore), the insulated battery box to suit the CRS headers and the alternator mounting. I'm in Canada this week for work (looking for Canadian blocks

) with a slow network, but will try to post them shortly.
Cheers,
Harv

Pictures as promised.
Overall layout:

Alternator bracket (homemade to clear swaybar). No comments on the block paint... someone had given the old girl a Dulux Overhaul before I bought it

:

Battery box (insulated with roofing batts offcuts, uses gelcell battery to reduce size- notice how close the front pipe comes):

VL Conformadore radiator (fittings are on the right side for SBC, core is same size as used for VK 308's, and are plentiful):

Fuel and transmission coolant lines:

Passenger side CRS 'tractors:

Driver side CRS 'tractors:

Note that my fenderwell holes were cut so that the holes were only just big enough to squeeze the pipes through with the engine in place - they are an odd shape that need cleaning up (whole project philosophy is fit, fiddle, rego, drive, fiddle, drive, fiddle, drive, fiddle a bit more, and only then pull apart for paint). Let me know if there are any specific photos you want - the vehicle is in storage at the moment, though I will be up that way in a fortnight's time.

Well done Harv, but there is one flaw in your process

More like fit, fiddle, rego, drive, fiddle, drive, drive, drive, drive......
