Looking very nice Jay. :D :D :D

I started cleaning up my bonnet hinges a few days ago, getting them ready to paint.
I know the originals weren't painted at all. And most cars if painted are chome or silver.
I was looking at black to blend them in and hide them away???? but wasn't sure about how long the paint would last on the springs, gear teeth and touching metal parts.
I also wasn't sure about getting paint into all areas unless the hinges were moved to the two positions. Did you need to move them to open and closed positions when painting ??? :?

Had to go back and read the entire thread again. 8) Very interesting and inspiring. 8) Paint is getting soooo close. :D :D :D Image

i thought you'd only really have to worry about painting the hinges in the open position......
for some reason i think if you shoved someone inside your engine bay and closed the bonnet, i'm pretty sure the last thing they're going to be bitching about is that they can see unpainted parts of the hinges.

Thanks Finny i have lots more pics of rust being cut out
and replated i spose i should post em but i try to show
some different stuff then the same old same old these
cars tend to have rust in the same area's so i try to mix it up
a bit :D
with the hinges like matches said only really need to paint
them in the open position and as long as there clean paint
shouldnt come off ; the springs im not sure the ones on my sedan
i had chromed cost 20 bucks so there is another option for you

Hi :D
made use of the clear calm conditions today
and got some prep work done on the wagon
for paint first the big rub down using 320 /400
600/ 800 / 1200/ then 2000 paper
wiped clean each time then some silver base coat
went on the front gaurds and the inside of the doors
before it got to cold and had to stop but its a good start
some pics :)
