Yes Wal, it's the same paint code as Jeremy's wagon. When I bought the car it had been completely stripped with no ID tag (see the first pic I posted), so I had no idea what the original paint or interior codes were. So for a long period of time I was trying to decide what colour scheme I was going to use. When I saw those photo's of Jeremy's wagon at the Nationals I knew straight away that was the colour, it was an absolute standout imo. My only regret was not being able to see it in person (I'm sure it was just as good if not better in the flesh)
So I went about tracking him down through here, managed to get hold of Sam (awesome bloke), told him my story and they were more than happy to send me the paint code. Got it made up over here in acrylic and even straight off the gun you could tell it was gunna look smick.
So from an ugly duckling "Bitsa" (it has a number of different panels and parts from different cars) it has been reborn. So as the car has now been given a new lease of life and the fact that my girls (I have 3 teenage daughters) keep banging on about giving the car a name I have decided to call her/him "Frankie", short for Frankenstein. I know this is not an original name, I think FireKraka has a "Frankenstein Ute" but it just seems to fit and my wife and I also have a bit of thing for "Frankie Doyle" off the aussie TV series Wentworth

Very nice - Jeremy is a lovely bloke too - the whole family are car nuts and really nice people - Sam is going to the 2020 nationals as is Jeremy I believe so you can get a wagon and sedan side by side combo - awesome

Yep, fantastic colour by the photos. I guess they colour matched for acrylic to paint the car you guys are talking about, and they have let you have the formula. Generous of them and big win for you Effbee.

It has been awhile since I have spent some quality time on the old girl but have had a fair bit going on over the past few months, life always seems to get in the way of the important stuff like playing with your toys

A little stall there for awhile but with at least the next month "working from home"
coz of Rona, I'm hoping to get a bit more done.
Anyway just another couple of quick pics for progress.
Engine & gearbox now in
All badging on the guards now complete
All outer door seals fitted
Hood lining in and looks smick
Front windscreen arrived the other day, so hopefully front and back in early next week

Very neat and tidy, effbee.
Are we fitting seat belts?
Did you polish the rocker cover - if so, you did a darned good job of it. Now, with all this time on our hands - those carbies would come up a treat if polished and set off to compliment the intake manifold..... bit of work, but they look darned good when done.... easy for me, I only had one to do..(sic).
I note we are using stainless bolts - well done. I might suggest using Loctite 76769 silver anti-seize paste on the threads... stainless and steel create issues over time with seizing... so too, does stainless in alloy. One tub of this product will see you out.. and probably your kids.. if not your grandkids... don't get it on you though, it takes a bit of effort (and time) to get out of your skin... seems to love getting into any cut flesh as well...
Keep going - great looking build... it's a bit like "elephant eating"... never sit down to eat it in one go.... but, bit by bit - and presto!... one day the elephant is gone... (no disrespect to elephants intended).

Cheers Rosco, yes mate definitely bit by bit.
The rocker cover was in pretty reasonable nick when I bought it, so just needed a couple of final touch ups. I would love to do the carbies but I'm not sure I have it in me, there in really good condition now so I think I'll just leave them (for now
)
I had all the original nuts, bolts and washers re-plated, unfortunately there were a lot missing so I have used 316 stainless and high tensile zinc where ever applicable. I have definitely tried to use anti seize on just about everything, time consuming but I think worth the effort, if god forbid, I should ever have to pull anything apart
. I didn't specifically use Loctite but hopefully the MolyTec stuff will do the trick.
