Thanks Neil. I've taken a few weeks off to try and progress things so I can get to the nats. We'll see.
Posting a fair bit of detail for others that want to have a go to get some ideas.
Drivers guard can come off for a small patch bottom driver side, fill and paint. Ordered an extended lower rear patch for the passenger side from Kingswood Country. Also a hole in the headlight peak to fix. Peaks are on back order at rares and it is just one hole on the side anyway.

Good stuff Clay & relevant to me right now as I’m tackling fender repairs too.
You say headlight peaks are available? I’ve never been able to find them. Rares catalogue shows FE/FC but not FB/EK. Great news if they do
Cheers, John
From what Ive been told the remains of Ray Taylors panels were grabbed by Tim Gall, Brett Tranter and Doug Ramsay - I'm not sure what was left but might be worth a try.

Good to know for future, thanks Rob. I did speak to Ray a few years ago and he wasn’t making the FB eyelids then either.
The postie delivered a parcel today and turns out he is an ex panel beater. Reckons I'm being too thorough butt welding all the panel repairs and says I should get a recessing tool and just tack and seam seal to avoid warpage. My butt welds tend to concave and will need some filler mainly on the driver top corner.

I've spent days getting my guards straight and the more I look the worse I find them. Obviously the pressings are a little wonky from factory especially noticeable on the commercial guards(van ute etc).
Subtle modifier. Ive never been one to leave things alone. Red motor is barely a mod really. Just an economical way of delivering acceptable power. Cheaper than improving a grey.
Going to be low with big rubber anyway, and with this in mind I worked the guard lip over a tad. I'll never forget fitting 195-65 rubber on 6" HT rim and bending the lip out on lock on my stock height EK when I first got it 1986.
Painted inside guard with metal fix.

Mate those gaps look pretty good
The peaks of my guards had pin holes all over them mate and I just keep putting a little weld on them until there were finally no holes left also had some rust holes down where the fender chrome would have been (they were from a sedan) and just keep filling them as well unitl all gone, yours will look fine once you do your stuff with them.

Cheers Neil. Yes the postie panel beater said I wouldn’t get much better on the gaps.
I found a good way to find pin holes in my but welds is to paint the back with metalfix. Black drops show up on the shiny side, wire brush and zap.
Left guard lower rear patch was delivered today....... to my work. I’m on leave another week ans a bit and DON’T want to go in there. Anyway I’m off to Cairns for a few days for a memorial for an old friend so nought getting done on this. Then taking the “kids” camping a few days at Pondalowie Bay. Have to drive
Past work so maybe pick it up then.
Good news today the scratch plates I ordered from new old car company are finally on their way after nine months on back order. Blingo!
Other news to hand, I picked up my new air punch/flange tool, so will try this on the lower guard repair. It rebates the panel edge and punches 5mm spot weld holes.
