Hey Greg I've been along this road quite a bit with my Ute, I had a vibration that I just couldn't solve, turned out to be something totally different but I still did a fair bit of research on what goes on, I did put wedges in as Clay says.

From what I read and looked at on You Tube (some really good vis on this subject) they say you should have 2 degrees down at the pinion to allow for pinion roll on acceleration in a leaf spring car this allows for the pinion to lift to the correct angle when accelerating.

I never took much notice when I was building the Ute but with the wagon I'm building I've been really conscious of it, with the independent rear end there is no pinion roll so I have had to make sure that I got the gearbox at the correct angle to the diff instead of the other way around.

I'm sure you will sort it mate.

Thanks Neil,

Its an issue many of us come across, and overall its the learning and conquering thats most satisfying. The caltracs i use stop the diff rotation but its the anticipated axle wrap under normal driving conditions with leaf springs thats a bit of guess work.

After waving goodbye to a Nomad FBer and his lovely wifes 2 day visit I managed to get some time in the shed.
Welded the sadles back in and painted so I can re install today.

The saddles are quite thick and thats good, so fingers crossed the amount i cut out will work, we shall see.
