I hear you appreciate a properly mounted number plate too Tim.
That's good news about the FF oil system Craig. Must be satisfying

Yep your right Alan.
Satisfying but at times it does my head in as I overthink everything.
I still have to see how it goes running as the Crank rotating at speed will create more flow/loss across the system. As much as I'm driving the oil pump thru the dizzy and rotating the crank by hand I expect I'll loose some oil pressure when its running at speed and when it gets to temperature.
I'm also itching to turn the key on this engine as it hasn't run for over 14 years. Trying to be patient and wise at the same time.....

Busy, busy this week.
Sun visor done up and fitted. What a prick of a job! Had so much fun refitting the alloy strip i.e. with sealing it, reforming it back into shape, and polishing it, all with out doing damage to the visor paint work. Very slow and tedious (3 days

).
Engine now painted and partially fitted out.

Thanks Wayne. Getting so close but at times it seems so far. I only have about 6 weeks left to finish it. I think I'll make it......touch wood, fingers crossed and all that crap!

Have only taken the strip off and refitted once..........
Hi Tim,
so I think your saying you did it once and never again??? I maybe the same but I doubt it. The original visor looked ok after blasting as an assembly but once I took the strip off I found it totally stuffed with rust to the extent that I reckon the strip would have eventually fallen off at a later date if I left it. I ended up dumping the first visor and picked up a near new one up in Wodonga. I sealed the strip with mastic to prevent any water ingress that will cause rust under the strip. I think the two dissimilar metals and trapped moisture are most of the cause of the initial rust. Anyway I rant on............

Absolutely loving your work Mr Allardyce
I see you've still got the vacuum wipers fitted. They staying?

Thanks Alan.
Yes they're staying.
The car was converted to electric when I bought it (93), but I've decided to try and keep it period as much as I can.
The Trico motor is brand new (NOS) and I am just about to overhaul the fuel and vacuum pump. I'm not anticipating the wipers to be as bad as a well worn unit. I do still remember my old FE that I had in the early 80's and I haven't forgot the fun of driving these old girls in the wet, especially on cross ply's.

Hi Craig.
Re the rear main; I can well appreciate the effort involved with getting this right. I can and do appreciate the effort you must have taken with the 186 you sold me. 6000 k's along and not even the hint of a drop from back there. PS that motor is running like a champ!

Thanks Tim,
I'd love to see the tool you made up Tim if you've got any pictures. I was thinking of knocking up some rollers for a wheeling machine but time is beating me.

Thanks Richard. I'm really wrapped that motor is going well for you. I'm always tentative selling something off to others. It doesn't take much for something to go wrong and the next minute your reputation is tarnished.
6000k's......you must be using it as a daily driver???? Good effort anyway.
Cheers.
Craig.
