Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
37C meant. I'll finish folding the edges over tomorrow. Nice knowing my tailgate is pristine on the inside. I'll blow some cavity wax in there when it is painted.

Good stuff Clay,
Took me months actually years to do all my panel gaps Ha Ha Ha.
Use less reducer and slow the gun movement down with 50% overlap, should wet up without visual overspray. Also try adjusting your fluid 2 to 3 turns out. You may get runs the first couple of goes, practice makes perfect !!

So many cars so little time!
Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
Thanks Greg. I think I had the pressure too high at 40 also.
Mucking around with the tailgate hinges. I must have swapped them side to side and the problem swapped sides, as well as buggering up the gaps. So adjusted the offending hinge in the vice with bfh and improved the situation. I was going yo try the hinges from the van but couldn’t get the big flat head screws out to remove from the tailgate. I think I can get it pretty good with the hammer and vice as long as I don’t break anything. Oxy would be handy sometimes.

Checked the gun. The fluid was set 2.5 turns out.
Tailgate is now sitting flush.

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute

All that is left is to spot weld corners and a few spots, filler along the top and inner. Then paint.
Hopefully Steve is open tomorrow so I can talk to him about the epoxy paint. I want to ask him about doing wet on wet epoxy etch and filler as suggested. I’m itching to get painting now but for the heat.
Cooler in here.

A wise man once told me it is always fair weather in a pub
That tailgate looks neat. The compound curves on the utes look really good once they are painted - almost Art Deco.

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
Thanks Harv. Turned out quite straight across the transom whereas probably should be slightly convex. I was told to put a few piecuts in the top to enable it to compound but couldn’t bring myself to.

I thought when you showed as all that beer you were inviting us for drink long way from Newcastle but might make it one day.

Your doing great work there Clay the tailgate looks good.
I take my hat off to you attempting to paint and I found that a little heat on those screws in the hinges does help to get them out maybe you could get one of those small hand held LPG bottles I find the are very handy.
Keep the picks coming.

Thanks Neil. I found I could happily use the original ones once I refined the adjustment "method".

Yeh Clay, you’re doing great. Can’t be comfy in the shed with the temperatures you’re getting over there.
