Ratbox: I will take a pick of the inner seat rails after I have welded them in place, I have recessed the seat rail into the floor abot 10mm on the inner rail.

A bit more progress, aiming to have to colour on mid January :roll: :lol: :lol: (wishful thinking!) Gone back to the original scheme: Phantom Mica (VE GTS metallic black), heaps of chrome and polished bits both inside and out, upholstery ..... red & black leather and swede.

I have ditched the HQ GTS fluted guards and have decided to doing something original and very "different" 8) 8)

As for the Supercheap Autos carport, I have 2 x 500watt and 2 x 100 watt flood lights in there (I was cold :shock: :shock: NOT!!) and it takes the humidity out of the air and raises the temp like an oven (I will set up a thermometer in there and see how much different it is), good cheap DIY spray booth :idea: .

Once it is all blasted and primed the last of the rust (which poked it's head out during blasting :roll: ) will be repaired before final prep & prime. :D :D

Picking up a 350 SB & heads tomorrow so I can bolt the Powerglide up for the fun part 8) 8) 8) .

Umm... might be the right time to look at the opening and reinforse for the bigger radiator..

Don't know what other blokes think will be needed for a SB up in NT..?

Hi Dave, I have attached a website with the blaster on it (around $200). It is great and does a really good job, I am running garnet (approx $22/25kg bag), best thing about doing it in the "Supercheap tent" is that I can sweep it all up, run it through flywire and put it back in the blaster! I bought 8 bags to start with and I still have 5 unopened :roll: :lol: :lol: .

Dee: Yee of little faith :shock: , I have an alloy desert cooler sitting in a box that was made for the EK, and yes it does involve some serious metal removal from the old radiator supports, just want it clean and primed to protect it then I will slice her up :shock: :shock: :shock: It's all good, cheers for the concern 8) .

Thanks John, also had a look at your build :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock: .... what a work of art! 8) . That is one very impressive setup and an incredible amount of thought and design work. Am very tempted to do the struts, but with the Nationals only 6 months away I think it would be asking for trouble as I still have to get the EK registered bofore the Nats :lol: :lol: , maybe I will do it on the next one :shock: :shock: .

I hope my EK comes out with the quality that yours displays :D :D :D .Better get back in the shed, just got back from picking up the 350 block and heads for the prefit (in a few weeks).

Yeah i checked out his commo struted front end its really sweet .. im guessing if i have the parts you could build it and fit it later on after the nats .. mind u that would mean another engineering visit ..

i still recon john should look a marketing the front ends or kits 4 em

I had a good look at Johns car at Yamba Nationals and agree that's it's an amazing bit of engineering from John that's gone into fitting the strut front into EK. 8) 8) 8)

Got a bit more done on the weekend, more cleaning, rust converter-"ing", and finally a 2 pack epoxy primer, still some small repairs to do but at least it's protected now :D :D

shes coming along nicely!

question on the sand blaster, i am guessing you plug an air hose into it for compressed air then just fill the container with your blasting material ?

i could find one of them very handy and the price is very reasonable!

Hi Sammy, that's it ..... just unscrew the cap on top and pour in the sand/garnet (kit includes a funnel) and connect the air (I have a compressor that only puts out around 6/8cfm, running at 60-100psi and it does the job, a larger cfm compressor would make the setup awesome (have to stop and start to let the compressor keep up but it still does ok), would recommend it, saves alot of work, like in the hard to get at spots were the wire wheel on the grinder doesn't fit 8) . I used a selection of tools to do the cleaning/prep work;
Grinder with wire wheel
drill with 2 sizes of wire brush (long brushes, not round like the grinder)
scrapers
Sand blaster with garnet
