So with the rocker gear, lifters and pushrods removed I went see if the motor was free.
No such luck, water pump is seized.
Fitted a second hand starter motor and gave it a crack but the donk is holding tight.
Either the starter is shagged or the donk is seized.

I think I’ll pull the motor out, put it on a stand and inspect it further from there.

So much more work to do at this point so I won’t waste time on the motor right now.

And yes I’d be keen to come to the next meeting.

So managed to make a small start on it today, jacked up and bonnet off ready to pull the motor and gear box.
Removed the door trims so as not to damage them any further than need be.
I’ll remove the front guards, grill etc before pulling the motor.

A productive morning this morning.
Took 5 hours to remove the front clip, a few bolts that need to be cut with the grinder but all in it came apart pretty easy.
3 big buckets of dirt fell from behind the guards and I was sure I’d find some thru holes of rust in the pillars.
Totally surprised that it looks pretty solid!

That is a great looking body, it will be quick and easy to restore without the headache of major rust repairs, good stuff do it right and well!!!!

And the afternoon worked out well too...
Engine and gear box out with the help of 5 loops of Bunnings rope
I’m happy with today’s efforts so I’ll have a clean up and go and spend some time with my daughter

Definitely has rust Clay, beaver panel needs a piece welded in.
Soon to see what else is hiding out if sight.

I still vote for Ballistol, polish and reassemble.

Yeah mate that pile of dirt was about 1/4 of what was dried up behind the guards, still can’t believe there isn’t any major rust behind that dirt!

Quick bit of work to move the engine from one side of the house to the other, the daughter wa handy before going to school!

Can’t mount the engine to the new engine stand as I need some longer bolts so I’ll go and grab them today.

And about the engine stand... how hard is it to drill the locating pin holes so it sits the mounting plate level?

FFS that shits me, it messes with my OCD.
Might have to weld the hole up and red drill it so the plate sits level
