Hi all,
scuse my absence but have been hard at it trying to meet my ever looming deadline with the car!
Anyway since last posting I've managed to finishing re-tubing all the brake and fuel systems, fitted up the brakes, fuel tank, installed and tested the new wiring loom, all lighting, and finally the car has a bum to look at.
Doors have had to come off again to fit the outer door seals. This turned out to be a drama as 3 out of the 4 outer seals were manufactured wrong and have been sent back. I'm still waiting on my trim from the states, apparently they are currently manufacturing the dies to do the run for my car.
Two big finds for the week have been that I've finally found the source of my bearing failure in my original grey engine. STRAY CURRENT.
I remember having some lighting issues way back and found my chassis was getting its earth back to the battery via the engine. I now also remember running an inline fuel filter prior to the fuel pump where the braided fuel line is fitted. After some research I found that this braided line is also used as a chassis earth point. I did end up fitting another cable to the chassis from the battery and never had any other issues (red motor fitted sometime later and ran about 20,000 miles). I did a bearing inspection on that engine not long ago before selling and all bearings were in good nick. So if you've removed that braided fuel line and haven't fitted any extra earths to the chassis from the battery, do so quickly.
The other annoying find is that I have lost my body ID plate!!!
