175 on a six inch rim won’t fit!

Thanks for that advice. I'll see if I can get 175s. The ones I was quoted on are Maxxis with a whitewall on one side. I'm thinking white wall on sooky sedan and plain side out on tough nut ute😆. Obviously non- directional.

or just make a lift up hatch and cut the rearmost support bar out - works a treat and can still use the original spare clamp - mine are 185's on 4.5 inch steel rims and no-where near fitting

You hot rodders I don’t know. The rear support is already missing Rob but you’ve got me thinking now. All the good work I’ve done refurbishing the floor would then be on show. Maybe I will.

Found this today Clay, circa 1970, me behind the wheel. Something special about FB/EK. (Sorry to take the focus off the ute for a sec Image)Image

Thanks Rob, Blacky and Clay. The hatch is a good idea and about the only sensible option if running non original tyres I think. There are some good stainless fold down hatch locks in the boating world that would work perfectly on a wooden tray.
Rob, no problems running 185s on 4.5 inch rim?

Hi Brett,
I have been running 185's (70 profile) by 13" on my ute for a while and the same on my sedan using original rims no probs. Similar to Blacky I have a narrow 13" for the spare. Cant remember actual size but think it would be 165?

Regards
Stephen

Thanks Stephen. I was thinking of going 185 80s as they are the closest to original radius. Cheers

I’m going to drill the badge holes and 2k etch the inside prior to fitting to frame. Seen this posted somewhere but can anyone with an original tailgate tell me the measurement from bottom lip to badge centre please? Otherwise I will strip the one off the van which appears to have been filled and painted over.

Never mind. Imageguilty of asking unnecessary questions.
It’s s bit tempting to use this tailgate off the van now I’ve got it down.
