Build dates

Post by EKjimmy »

Anyone know how to decipher build date/year from tag numbers?
trying to figure out what year mine was built so i get the right rego plate :D
Numbers are:
Trim: 713 964
Paint: 585 9900
Top: 585 0246
225H6350M
subframe number:
EK12937M

I know the trim and paint codes already but read elsewhere that these numbers can help to identify build date. Keen to learn how to understand the numbers completely-i know 225 is special, 215 standard, 6350 is build number, M is melbourne, 585 is dulon something or other and 9900 refers to some sort of grey i think. just dont know if number 6350 was built in 61 or 62?

Early Body number and Cathay Grey, so a 61 Car, best way to check is to use Sunny Tim's thread on dating glass and go fromt here but you will find it will support what has already been offered as a 61 built car

Don't know if this helps......

My old bus was also a Melbourne build.

- the original sub-frame number was EK 11097M
- the original engine number B 210600

The vehicle was first registered on 7th August 1961....
ex showroom floor, Bill Patterson - Ringwood.

Rosco
