What colour is this?

Post by FB wannabe »

When I went to the fb/ek nats this year I was really taken back by one car in particular, solely due to the colour. Can anyone on here give me some more info on it? I'm guessing it's not a factory fb / ek colour. And I would love to know what it's off.

Thanks

Can't help much except to say that back in the 80's when I had a EK Wagon project, I had a spare set of panels, and they were that colour, albeit faded!
So I think it may well have been a factory colour.

Hey Thommo, I think you may be right! if not it's very close. I googled colleen green fb / ek and came up with Smooths wagon "Frank" which I remember him being on here when I first joined.

Here's frank, what do the masses think? same colour?

Hey Thommo,

Originally I thought my car was the same paint scheme as yours, mainly because the guy I bought it from said it was originally grey and our cars have the same colour interior. Going back a while I posted up asking what a seagull grey fb looked like and you posted pics of yours. I finally got off my arse and checked the plates and it turns out it was originally Morning grey, the same as this one

http://www.fbekholden.com/forum/viewtop ... b68f2c2104

No offence to Mr Jackson but Yuk! what a horribe colour! I had seen little bits of this colour on the car under scratches / chips etc and just thought it was some sh!@ty looking primer. I had considered returning the car to original colour so it would be more original but after seeing that I wouldn't have it painted that colour if someone did the paint job for free!

Thanks to everyone for their help in identifying this colour! 8)

Wannabe, those pics of the Jacko Morning Grey arent very indicative of what the colour looks like.

I've seen that car in the flesh..............the colour looks a lot better (and different) than in those photos.

I think there's some photo's somewhere here wih outdoor shots of the car. . Looks quite good

Colleen Green with a 'Reef Green' flash

Post by CHO576 »

Gday FB wannabe,

Yep, I'm pretty sure it is Colleen Green.

I reckon it's a top colour as well - but I may be biased, cause it's the same colour as my FB sedan

BTW ... another popular combo for Colleen Green is with a 'Reef Green' flash (that's what Ive got).

Here's a pic of a club members FB Sedan in Colleen Green / Reef Green from the NSW Club Judging Day:

Hi CHO576,

Bloody nice FB you've got there! love the colour 8) although I must admit I do prefer it with the white flash but yours still looks really nice.

So any ideas about what colour the white is :? I'll be seeing a very good painter tomorrow night about another project and I would really like to have the paint codes for him.

Thanks

hmm... not sure about codes for the White ...

I do know though, that you can definately get the paint codes for Colleen Green (and Reef Green) in PPG paints - I was checking on this myself just last week.

Cheers

Thanks alot for that Sunnytim! 8)

Knowing that I will probably just pick a white colour off the 1960 - 1962 chart. From memory there are just 2, Grecian white and snowcrest white.
Not too sure which one would look better with Colleen green :?:

Gday Andrew
I'd pick Grecian over Snowcrest
Grecian is creamier, snowcrest is bright white compared to Grecian.
That would be my choice if I had to pick

Thanks so much to all for their input here! it's hugely appreciated 8)

Grecian it is! :D

I don't think it will be too much longer before we will need paint, or at least some primer.
