Post by ekdave1962 »

Hi Guys too me yellow devil for its 1st run outta geelong on Sunday was off to Bendigo all holden day ..

Sadly she tossed a rod just out side of woodend :( but not my question

SOUND PROOFING lack off ..
man that car was so noisy .. road noise mainly .. all thou the drivers vent was whistling a sweet tune also ..

So is Dynamat the best option to sound proofing .. and if so how much has it reduced road niose on current member cars ?

I used some stuff a mate of mine put me onto - it is like a sheet of bitumen with foam on one side and silver paper like dynamat on the other. Comes in a sheet 1200 x 2400 and is bloody heavy
I fitted it on the floors of the '64 and I couldnt believe how much quieter it was - cost about $250 for the sheets.
Try a local trim shop, they should have something .
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

I went to a local carpet place and they had some rolls of that old hair underlay theyd pulled out of a school they were only gunna chuck it said I could have it. they showed me the stuff they sell for cars and said that the hair stuff was better soundproofing and fire retardant. They had a fair few rolls there
also with some foams you have to be carefull because against the fire wall with the heat the foam can give off fumes that will put you to sleep :(
