My anti chev stems from the way the owners of said chevs look down on the aussie stuff.....

i'm with DR on there high and mighty attitude

i like tri 5 chevs etc and i like FB/EK's but hate the terms little '57 baby '57 etc, if you want a '57 buy one don't get an FB/EK tack some chev bits on it and think you have the next best thing cause it's not it just makes you look like a wannabe

mmm have a look at fb holden then compare the 56 chev flash there aint much difference

oh and does that include when v8s are put in a fb or ek is that included as chev wanne be ?

the side trim is nothing like a '56 chev, what the hell has putting a V8 in an FB/EK got to do with it being a chev wanna be

well its like this fb ek only had a six what engine is generally put in a chev engine, and on the 56 chev its only few inches differance in shape, no havnt been drinking that my thought on it

The cars do look very alike (55-57 Chevs & FB/EK's), and I'm presuming this was quite intentional. For whaever reason, Holden designers have always taken styling from other GM cars.

From what I've read, the FX was a completely American designed car, after GM knocked the Aussie design on the head.

If someone wants to make his FB/EK look like a Chev, then good luck to him. It's his car.

Personally I wouldn't do it

if i put a 186 in does that mean i'm trying to make it a HR

guess the ute and van i put 308s in i was trying to make them either a HT/G, HQ/J/Z/X, didn't use blue motors so couldn't have been a WB or a commodore
i'm talking about people that try to make there car look more like a chev by adding (and no offence ment here) headlight sections, bonett bullets, flashs, paint work and worst of all those tacky bowties, if that's what a person wants good on them but majority of the population will just look upon you as a wannbe, you'de be one of those dicks that drive around in a commodore ute with a chev bowtie on it cause it has a chev engine

That Chev bowtie thing is one that irks me as well. Whenever I see a Commodore with a bowtie replacing the Holden badge, it just screams "try hard"

i'm not taking sides or anything, but RB have you seen blue jacketts ek? it is a 57 clone, right down to the chev badge (well it was when i saw it), so its a lost cause, one person who doesn't like the clone look talking to someone that does, neither are going to give and it's all down to what each individual likes.
if you don't like clones, don't buy/ build one.
if you do, go for it (just remember you will have people dissagree with your choices).

there's no sides to take some like the look others don't and some don't care to me if you want a '57 chev buy one
i'm not telling anybody what to do or not to do just saying what I don't like, my only issue with blue jacket was the comments that by doing an engine swap yor trying to make the car into something else which to me is silly yor not changing the outward apperance of the car with an engine swap yor just improving the performance

Well, You know what pisses me off, is when the joe average says, the the FB/EK is the poor mans 57 Chev, Where in the hell does the similarity exist.

Surely it can't be that it just has fins, back in the day there were at least 10 manufactures that had finned cars.
And definitely fitting a 350 Chev engine or a 6 cylinder chevy motor, does not make this a clone or any part of.
To me they are nothing alike.
Here is example 1....57 Chev

Example 2........ here EK

Example 3....Pontiac

I can certainly see which one has the more influence....................

So if anyone here can shed me some of that luminous light down here on the South Coast
