Idle adjustment via the wire link ?

Includes fuel system, cooling system and exhaust.

Idle adjustment via the wire link ?

I have found that the my engine doesn't drop back to normal idle.

The idle screw is correct, but I need to manually pull the mechanism back to get the last bit.
Spring is already fairly strong.
It seems to be hitting underneath the manifold. :shock:

Is it normal just to bend the wire link to provide more space ? :? :?
It's the wire that's hitting, not the red bracket.
Do they normally sit against the bottom of the manifold ? :? :?

Finny,

Looks to me, that the black spacer has lifted the carby up too high and the lower red bracket is fouling under the manifold preventing the the link to reach its rest possie.
I think!

But I know.. that you have to adjust, bend or modify the lower red bracket or the "wire", so it doesnt hit the underside of the manifold.

Free travel is a must.

Had a similar worry, with twin carb links stopping under the manifold preventing the carbs to idle.

I thought the Black spacer was standard :?
Haven't seen other to compare.

Just seemed strange that it's so close.
Will bend the wire which should be OK, but I expect I'll only get a small amount of movement.

I have to agree with Tim there Finny, Don't pull the phenolic spacer out, its there to prevent heat soak in the carby, caused by the big hot box where its bolted to the exhaust manifold.

(I know someone else posed the question, Re: spacers with Twin Carbs. (somewhere)??? Do you need them with Twin carbs. I said no, because there is minimal heat soak and there is no heat box on a twin manifold.
So I thought I'd clear this up before any contradictions were set.)

The throttle link on the carby appears bent to me, where it adjoins the spring link on the throttle lever.
And the spring should be attached to the firewall Just as Tim mentioned, and not run up to the carby. Going through the hole above the bolt adjuster.

Thanks for feedback. :D

Wasn't planning on taking out the black spacer.
I think the spring has been replaced with a weaker one.
I tried it in the other position but it was even less effective. :cry: :cry:

We can look at that on Friday to. :D :D :D

G'day Finny, Check for sagged engine mounts or for anything that is making the motor sit down lower than normal.
