Anyone run 15" stock wheels???

Post by Nekro63 »

Just curious if anyone runs 15's on their EK? Not sure if there are wheels that big that would fit, and if it looks out of proportion or not.

Or what about 14's on the back, and 13's on the front?? Really just thinking our aloud here...

I'm pretty sure Roger Hancock's EK is running 15's and looks grouse 8).
Sorry don't have a pic of car at the moment.
If you want 15's look for a set of volvo rims they fit early holden stud pattern.

One thing with doing that Luke is what look are you after? Caps or slotted/holed versus smooth steelies????

I think I know what you might be planning. The easiest thing is to get 4 ht steelies (Ramrod on Ozrodders is a good source as he got all mine and at the right price  ) 14" tyres to fit are cheap too. 13's on the front with 14's on the back might not look right. Plus theoretically you need 2 spares in case of a puncture.....
Speed and Style........... One day I'll get the speed bit.

Thanks for the replies guys, I think we might eventually go for 14's. Those 15 inch wheels look alright but need to be covered up like oldnek's.

At the moment theres no plans for hubcaps.

I know someone with heaps of 14" wheels so I'll look into that then ramrod, thanks brett.

If anyone has a set of 14" steelies in relatively good condition (pref white) that they want to part with for the right price let me know....

Cheers

g day all my brother and i have a set of 4 14inch centre lines which are the ones without holes in them real 80's street machine look which we will probably be replacing with 18's. Only problem with the 14's that u might start encountering is 14" tyres are starting to get hard to come by from what ive seen and heard (in Adelaide anyway) so id be more favourable to 15's plenty of tyre choice with these. or 15's with 13 centres. hope this is helpfull :?

G'Day
I am running 14" x 7" steel "Elstra" chrome slotted rims (1970s/80s look like mags except they are steel) on the EK Ute with salt lake moon caps .. ebay $165 and whitewalls ( flappers - from johns rod and custom shop ViC $129 ) 225 s X 65s on the rear and 215 x 65s on the front. guards are flared just a bit

Steers good and the first thing i noticed after removing the 13" dragways was the improvement in ride and better steering due to less offset on the elstars. Down side is even with lowered springs the ute sits up like an F100 F@#d

I tried a standard 14" HK .wheel and they are offset a long way inward . The face / centre of the rim is almost flush with the outer edge of the rim.
Put these on an FB / EK and you end up with a narrower wheel track than the original rims... handling would probably be lousy as well.

There may be some other 14" rim with a different offset .. HT or HG may be different but i cant see why holden would have changed rim offsets on the what is basically the same car from '68 to '71.

Perhaps Monaro is different . problem here is .. as soon as you mention "monaro" the cash register starts getting excited and your bank account gets sick real quick.
