Funny story about that!! The missus came into the shed after she heard it fire up (I had turned it off again), I said... have a listen to this!!........ unbeknown to me my Sharpie ("Chevy") came in the shed with Sue and he was around the passenger side right next to the header outlet when I hit the starter .....$@%*&#$#@# should have seen the poor bugger run!!!! It took us about 4 hours to get him within 10 metres of the shed! Sue said he ran to the house and sat inside shaking!! I reacon he must have felt the exhaust aswell as hear it.... poor bastard

question about this speedo gear setup you mention, is it some sort of electronic sender to work with the new dash gauge ?

The Speedo is an electronic Autometer, the sender is from Summit Racing (USA) and simply take the old speedo cable out (if fitted) and install the electronic speed sensor, there are 3 wires from the sensor that need to be run inside the car. The best thing is that the speedo is fully programable...... basically when I take it for it's first drive we will mark out a distance (a few klms as per the book) with a car with a correct speedo, the EK will then be stopped at the start of the measured run, speedo calibration activated then drive the run at around 80kph, at the end the calibration button is pressed again and it is set regardsless of diff ratio, tyre size etc. Can be redone if you change tyre sizes or diff ratios.
yeah i hear ya, i have a VDO electronic gauge in my Torana to work off a T700 gearbox, its pretty much the same calibration procedure ... i actually used a gps and drove 1000meters and yeah did the same calibration thing as you say ..... its more accurate than my VZ UTE!!!
might have to puruse summits website - can you tell me what the part number was for it ?, i need to fill the hole in my powerglide and as the car its in wont have a speedo i would like to get a speed sensor in there cause i plan to one day EFI it and the computer works better with a speed sensor input!!
Hey Sammy, got my set up from v6 con. He made up a peice that a vn speed sensor screws into and I set mine up the same as yours. My box is a aussie 4 spd....
Will be on the injection train soon, just have some other things to get out of the way first....Soon.

Speedo is an AutoMeter unit PN: 4489-M (the M is for metric).
Speed sensor is PN: SUM-G2887-1

A lot of work going on but not much worth taking pics of. Here are a couple of the exhaust (from header flange to under the K frame) and the head lights are on (Aussie Dessert Cooler and thermo also in). Pic of the polished "Button head" S/S bolts that replace the old door hinge bolts.
First stage of exhaust from headers made up:
S/S button head bolts and the Commodore interior light switch (also fitted to back doors).
Lights are in (recommended by Spyder, he has them in the FB Van) H4 globes fitted.
