Well it makes sense in my head I only used the mounting plate and shift linkages not the flexlpate this is because the red is going to be replaced soonish and I didnt see the point in making up a cross member and then having to buy the kit when the red came out
Anyway some pics I found somewere
The black arrow shows were you will have to drill through the bellhousing to get a bolt through for the engine mount this is why I think it is better to use the V8 bellhousing looks to have a bit more meat than the 6 but I could be wrong
The blue arrow shows where you will need to clearance grind the engine mount to clear the bolt head (allow for a socket ) alternatively you could weld a tb onto the mount and drill a hole through

J, i think you'll need a pre-commodore trimatic...ie. any out of a kinswood, from memory the pre commodore trimatics had the linages setup on the drivers side due to column shift, they changed to passenger side in the commodore to suit the t-bars...J wrote:sorry I dont quite understand Craig ,
you put a trimatic to grey motor kit, on a red motor?
I use a 360 deg bellhousing either from a newer trimatic or a commonwhore
cheers

I'll swap you the Trimatic from my G banger (HG) for a coplete 308 v8 conversion to suit the HG.
Deal?

ooooooooookayyyyyyyy
well pictured below is my trimatic - the linkages (the bolt coming out of a little shaft) is already on the drivers side
sooooo I spoke to my mate and we will be trading bellhousings - if I can get the fugen bolts undone!!!!!

Im also thinking of tricking it up a bit - so it will perform a bit better - can someone suggest cheap ways to do up a trimatic?
Today after Marching in the Anzac parade I went over to franks, we masked her up and gave her a spray over with some gloss black.
Before:

After:

Turned out pretty good I think
looking at getting some chrome hydraulic hoses for my brake booster and fuel lines
I forgot if I mentioned this, but the side plate, pulley and little pipe thingo are out for chroming at the moment, have to take rocker cover and twin carb manifold to get polished. And I got a quote for an alloy timing gear for the cam and a cast one for the crank, as well as a ring, mains, bigends gasket kinda kit for a grey...
shit theyre expensive
I also tried to put a new fuel tank in cos mine is busted, the one I have is probably out of an FE or FC because the fuel sender thingo doesnt fit...
Would anybody have one that would work?

(the hole appears to be deeper and narrower)

J, just a word of warning about the bell housing, take it to a transmission place to swap the bell housings over.
I did my own a while ago and had big leaks because of a seal had popped out of position, cost me another 3 hrs of my time and $100 to fix, and if you don't line it up properly it will stuff up the pump inside the tranny, not worth the risk of doing it yourself
