Well J, thats what happens when you cane these engines too much. I remember when I was your age I used to go through red motors and Trimatics like they were going out of fashion.

I remember doing 2 engines and 4 Trimatics in 1 year

J, do you have those stupid laws over in the wid west about what sort of cars P platers can drive?.

Here in NSW you cant drive anything turbocharged or a V8.

So legally you cant drive a mid 80's Charade turbo which has about 80 BHP.........but you can legally drive a Porsche GT3 which has something like 400 horses........

You dont have to do an oil change in an EK, all you have to do is wait a couple of months until the oil in it is completely drained, then put some more in....

Its a motor made for lazy people :)

Yesterday was pretty eventful.......
an electrician came over, fixed my brake lights (if anybody has one of those switches that the brake pedal hits please let me know), fixed my gauge lights and tidied up the wiring a bit.
He is planning to come back and finish off the job a bit once the engine is in... $100 all up inc next time he comes over :D

We also picked out what parts would need to be chromed. Inc the side plate, engine pulley, a pipe coming out of the side of the engine :S And two support structure bars up the front with the bonnet latch. The over all quote $570....

I thought - screw that, so we are just doing the sideplate, pulley and the little pipe thing for $220
and I should get it back in 2 or 3 weeks

We also dropped the engine off at Favazzo's, Malio (the only Favazzo still working there) will be cleaning it all up, polishing up the cam and the crank. We did want to put a bigger cam in but I dno why but we arent, so we are putting aluminium cog thingos on it.

As for the gearbox, this arrived in the mail today!

Image

now to get it to work through the column, apparently I need a trimatic gearbox with the linkages on the drivers side... But I need one with a 360 deg bellhousing. So... the newer trimatics have the 360 deg bellhousing but I believe the linkages are on the passengers side. If its too hard then im just going to have to invest in a lokar shifter :)

I think I may just drop it at the Welshpool place that specialize in old holdens, get them to trick up the gearbox, as well as set it up for the grey motor.
Unlesss there is someone on here who know how to do it all, itd be great to get some help (please)

The day became even more exciting when I got into a fight on the way home :)
unfortunatley the pavement won :( (wish i got a pic of all the blood dribblind down my leg)

Image

Engine bay will be painted tomorrow after a shitload of degreasing and scrubbing haha.
thats all for now.

Favazzos eyyyyy

They did the recon on our Landcruiser. Had a few problems with it after getting it back, one of them being THEY FORGOT TO BOLT IT IN!!!!

So, word of warning, check that its bolted in when you get it back haha.

Edit: just realised that your putting it in yourself. All good then haha.

Rebuild on a 2h to suit a 60 series Cruiser - over $4000. What is the grey costing?? I'm telling ya man, just slot in a red and get up with the times

ahahahahah
thats funny as hell :P

Malio is cool - he looks after us....

all the work n kit etc will be under $500 :)
you guys would have been charged for all the labour of stripping it down n pulling it out (which we did ourselves)

last night I had a dream I was driving the ek (it had a lokar shifter) and was awesomely loud and powerful.... then somehow that turned into a landcruiser with a 350 chev and glasspacks... mannn that drove like a dream (in my dreams  ) and i was speeding - the whole way :S

HZ or VB trimatics should be the correct one's, or just get a 360 deg bell housing and put it on a box with the shifter on the driver side.

No floor shift at your age  , no chicks can snuggle up to you on a cold nights cruise  , Trev 8) .

Jay I just used this kit behind a RED in my WIFES wagon

Might as well put a girls gearbox behind a girls engine

What Trev said with the Boxes is the go I used the 6 cylinder 360 bellhousing but you are better off with the V8 360 as the engin/gearbox mounts bolt on better I will post up some pics I found of a grey with it soon

I was trying to fit it with manual engine mounts didnt know there was a difference  thanks to SunnyTim for his help there

OH and the reason I used the kit insted of making a cross member is the red is comming out soon

I know    Its a sickness
