Have you checked whether your rocker arms are moving up and down when you crank the engine? If they don't move, you've done a timing gear!!! Ouch!!!

my fuel used to run out alot too, my guage only showed kinda empty or kinda full, when i fitted a electric pump i had a warning ticking noise, when i heard it i always pulled into the next servo.
i did a timing gear in my grey motor on the F3 freeway at mt white, a relo blamed it on the old grey and insisted i fit this red 202 in a LX down the back yard.
i took it to the drags & all but after 4 weeks the friggen red motor did the same thing on the same freeway and in mt white but in the other direction.
my relo said it was becuase i took it to the drags but i reckon the old fibre gear just soaked up to much oil over the years.
now i never use fibre gears, i tried a helical alloy red gear and it seemed silent, now i have straight cuts.
if you dont want it to happen again you can get a steel timing gear for greys.
