Well today was fun to say the least...
Firstly I noticed my suspension bolts (rear) were all loose so I did them up (cos the lowering blocks actually moved when you touched them :shock: )

Also took some pics so I could dream about airbags...

After a quick phone call to seb (fastjbav6) he said he would lend me some wheel nuts for my Hustler's considering I am STILL WAITING for mine to come from over east.

It was a fair cruise over to Munster - but we were driving with this half the time 8)

The wheels didnt fit, my car was too low so with some filing - it helped....
but as we drove off, we carved half the rear tyres off so we drove back and seb pulled out the angle grinder, and took as much off as he could with the cutting disc.

I took some quick pictures and off we went!

Driving home we discovered it would still scrape the tyres when turning :roll: Had to pick up my sister and dad decided he would drive - even though I explained having more weight on the driver's side would make it worse (which it did)....

We had a long cruise down West Coast Hwy WITH THE F'N HANDBRAKE ON... as I discovered when we were pulling into my street

Once we got out and got the angle grinder set up dad says "your car smells a bit different, must be something wrong with it"

me replying "cos u left the f'n handbrake on when we were going 70km/h for a good 25 minutes"

Yea then I cut the crap out of my guards and its all good, cept my gearbox which I have to get a new cooling rubber hose thing for... (leaked a litre in 2 days)

Looks good there J, those old style wheels really suit the old cars I reckon 8) 8) 8) .

Had a chuckle with the handbrake on saga :roll: :lol: :lol: :lol: , typical of the old holden handbrakes that they work so well when pulled on, you can drive at normal speed without noticing any drag on the performance :lol: :lol: :lol:

I also had to retighten my diff/spring U bolts after fitting lowering blocks and travelling for a few miles. I was wondering what the clunk was when changing from 1st to reverse and vice versa.It was the diff slopping around a bit :shock: :shock: :shock: .

Has Seb still got his 14000 mile standard he bought a few years back ??

Good going J,

yes - getting stuff over here is sometimes like swimming in treacle..... you go through all the motions, but don't seem to get anywhere...... guess the holiday season sort of brings things to a halt..... it's bad enough when stores have all staff working - but with some missing on leave..... well... enough said....

Like you wheels - they certainly do make a big difference to the look of you beast....... very nice....

I expect you had to hack out the centre to rear of the upper rear guards... that's where I'm in trouble with mine - or going to be when I get tyres fitted and see what's what.......

handbrake - yep - guilty as charged..... many times in fact....

The EH diff has stopped that - the handbrake has an over-acting motion and if you try to move off it just locks in harder..... reverse, however is not anywhere near as good as the original EK..... this is what I have found with mine......

Guess Seb enjoyed his day out..... where else can you hack into a car and not have to wear it..... I use the word "hack" very loosely.... I bet he took care to the 'nth" degree whilst he was creating a bit of clearance....

The grille bar looks great, but I'd suggested some spacers as it seems to get lost from any other angle than front on :cry:

I like it stock best, plus if its obstructing your view your gonna be struggling to see stuff before you hit it! Especially with the good ol drum brakes of death! :lol:

He has a grey motor - he won't be going fast
He has disc brakes - they work well
Get it as low as you can I say!!

Hey J, The problem you'll come up against isn't whether you'll see oncoming traffic, But the stays from the visor to the roof. These will dictate what angle you can run them at. With my Van (Higher roof line) I used sedan stays which brought the visor down on such an angle that I had to cut 1" off the visor ends to make it line up with the A pillar. Now I can't use this visor for anything else. With the sedan roof and stays you'll probably have to bend the stays down without breaking them. Cut and weld them at the desired angle.
