Radiator to suit red 186

Post by ekdave1962 »

hi guys the radiator opening on me replacement front has been cut to suit a larger radiator .. im asuming someone was planing a chev motor ..

now my question what radiator will fit the larger opening i picked up a 55 chev radiator but its way 2 tall .. and to make it it would mean notchin out the front rails .. not a good idea ..

so was hope that maybe a did model chev or similar would fit .. ? ?

what radiator have the guys fitter that are running chev motors ? as they have the same outlet spots as red motors ..

How large is the opening that has been cut into the front radiator panel??

I believe ( though can't verify ) that the HK/T/G V8 radiator will fit or maybe even HQ to HZ V8 one may fit??. I think you can also buy both directional outlet top thermostat housings as well that can help with radiator choice depending on which side the top radiator tank outlet is on in which ever radiator you decide to fit.

Or perhaps one of the crossflow radiators may fit ?? with further opening of the radiator panel.
I can't think what to write here so this will do.

Try HK-T-G ones or failing that wander on down to a pinch a part with tape in hand and check out some measurements on a few different types of radiators.

Dave, My red runs a standard grey radiator and the auto red runs a HT/g/k Radiator, No overheating probs and the Ht/G/K one has been modded by cutting out the sides of the opening to fit the wider rad!
