Speco floorshift for crashbox

Post by ekv8ute »

Has anybody got a photo of a speco floorshift set up on a grey motor crash box? I have a complete shifter and linkages but I think it's from a later gearbox.

The shift mechanism doesn't have a model number on it so I guess only the linkages were different?

Gday Mark
I linked you to that thread because it had a pic of a speco floorshift set up on a grey motor crash box
to make it easy to compare what you have to a early set-up

Here is my shifter-i think it might be for a later gearbox.

I can fit the linkages to the original selector and shift levers on the gearbox- i am more interested in how the shifter mounts to the gearbox. The mount I have (not shown) looks like it should bolt to where a bellhousing bolts up.

Hi Mark
Do you want that shifter to operate a non synchro crashbox?

Yeah Thommo.Played with it today and mocked it into place-can't figure out how the selector linkage ties in with the other linkage.Do you have any words of wisdom?

Hi Mark

It would be easier to make the crashbox shifter.

Your shifter has two linkages to shift two selectors on a synchro gearbox.
The stick operates either linkage by moving across from one to the other.

The non-synchro crashbox has one selector that selects all gears.
That one selector moves back & forth for 1st/reverse,
then slides out on a shaft to select 2nd & 3rd.
The stick pivots from the very bottom, which slides the selector in & out.

They are two differant actions altogether
requiring two differant shifters.

Have a look at the earlier link to the other thread,
they are easy to make.
