yeh, look I think Im goona have to get serious and pull hthe egine to pieces. I still can't get past the idea that it could be the dizzy or fuel pump et, but i have to reassure myselfe that i did replace allt hat stuff twice now nad it didnt make any difference.

Must be seomthing like the timing gear, althought the timing remains constant so if it has slipped it has stopped slippng now.

Will let you know how i get along when i get a chance to do it.
Cheers again,

Hey Sigs Have you checked your muffler is not blocked ? this will cause what you describe, simple to do just unbolt exhaust flange at manifold and start , see what happens easier than pulling motor apart

my engine was doing the same thing
and it was the carbon brush in the dizzy
cap had worn down to far and wasnt
hitting the rotor button correctly but if you
put a new cap on it should have stopped it
allthough i put a new cap new rotor button
and coil and that didnt help until i lifted the rotor button
up and that fixed it try lifting it up and down in small increments
at a time and try starting it each time you move the button up
or down you can put a small piece of folded sand paper inside the rotor
button to keep it up and see if that works

I spoke to sigs on the phone about a week ago. He's pretty busy ATM and hasn't touched the problem engine for a while now.

Problem is still there.
I can't think what to write here so this will do.

hi all,
I ran into someone the other day who suggested the generator may be playing up and delivering low voltage. Would this cause the problems decribed? How do you tell if the gennie is up to speed?
