YAHOOOOO :D :D

Well today we went for a drive to Queensland Transport paid a quantity of money and got the old girl registered.

Then I drove it straight home and pulled it apart, just for something different :x
Gearbox is out, and its gone on a short holiday, diff is apart, playing with angles again and exhaust is in bits trying to make more room for the 3inch pipes without hitting anywhere. :?

Hopefully I'll have the box back on friday and hopefully it will be all fixed, otherwise there maybe a large bonfire in my back yard.

I don't know why it would be any more expensive than that. All they have to look at is whats done and its either right or wrong.

Before I started this car I called John the engineer that I used and I told him what I entended to do and he told me what I had to do for it to pass. There was no checking half way through it, it was just a matter of build it and it will be inspected. I guess I've known him for a very long time and he knows I don't do things by halves.

The other thing he wanted to know is who did certain modifications like front end, steering, diff ect as there is only a couple of people in QLD that he will recognise for their work quality and pass without any problems.

see thats where my engineer is different, he wanted to see it before i started, and before i put it all together then when its done, but then he really doesn't know me from a bar of soap so he would want to make sure whats going under the covers is going to last if hes going to stamp it!

still i've heard of people paying over $1k for engineering so when i got a rough price off him i was happy :)
Regards,

Sammy.

In NSW, the price of $250 would be standard issue report for a red motor and dics front end install......+ the cost of rego: around the $500 mark

I paid $550 for my report, My engineer viewed my car during construction and when I had made dramatic changes. I also discussed with him the mods I was doing and the reasons why I changed things to suit..

I was paying $50 for each prior inspection by him, not to bad considering he was travelling from the Basin area to Ulladulla, and would be looking over my car for an average 1 1/2 hours at a time including discussions.
So I thought that was pretty bloody cheap. He also took his time out to discuss others issues in preventing my car being a ICV..........

He had a total of 3 visits prior to me bringing him the completed car. So in all I was charged $700 for my report. And I was pretty happy with figure.

I know of a few other engineers that would of easily charged me the $1000 to $1200 mark for my mods, and possibly even would of said that it would not be allowed.

So Mal you managed a steel at that price, and including Rego as well

Have you seen this or not...?

Ratbox is right, I think you'll find a user on here called Griff. Owns a nice mild custom EJ and has a thing for old Holdens and works on a little mag you may have heard called Street Machine...

Now if it was Brootal (Boris to those in the know) we'd be putting up with his Rambling's  ... One for the perth boys

Boris I do know, still don't know if its good or not...

Mal get used to it, I have a feeling we'll see alot more ink on your ride yet.
Too good a feature car to pass up if you ask me.

they did a photo shoot of my convertable but it never end up in the mag

Personally I think they could of asked for the owners permission first, before any photos are presented.

What if Mal didn't want his car being exposed yet................................Tough Luck!.... is not the answer, He could of been informed first. What if he doesn't like the particular photos of his car, a least give him an option of the pics to be spread all over the place, I mean it goes for anyone.

I know I would be pretty p@&#ed off, especially it was a photo that looked pretty crap.

I guess if he didn't want it seen John he probably wouldn't have posted those pics on the internet....

I'd be stoked for that sort of recognition, it is very deserving of it.

I can understand that to,! DR, But what if he hated that pic
I know hes posted hundreds of pics here, but he chose them.

I had a few cars in Mags and gave them copies of photos, and told them the ones that were marked could be used, they decided to put others in that were not applicable, and then threw in bullshit articles on the build which was nothing that I had given them.. Made be look like a fool, with the crap they wrote in the articles.

A perfect line that still haunts me was:

John fitted a 40/80 cam shaft to get the gasses flowing from the 13b turbo, that enables the engine to come onto boost much faster.....Blah,Blah Blah.. Thats what the D'Heads wrote..................and went on.
Boy did I get some calls from a lot of Rotory gurus, wondering how the hell I could possibly do that.

I spose that was a good turning point for me. To stop advertising and Not buy them Mags no more.
