Hi rosco,

thanks for the complement, but no its not my trade in fact this is the 1 st car i have worked on in over 20 years .. so im sure some of the tradesmen on the site must be going wtf why did he do it that way ...

Mel,

your car is an inspiration to most of us .. i nearly fell of my chair when i saw how much your had spent on here but considering all the goodies u have in it im not suprised ..

dont worry theres mistakes .. lol

the mig is a cig transarc .. gas / gasless .. gas is much better .. and about the same cos as fluxed wire is not cheap ..

mind u when the jobs done all the bottles will got back oxy as well ..

Well Guys the rust work continues ..

left sills are in and patch work puzzle is complete ..

front left floor replaced and patches to the rear floor ..

replacement dog leg fitted ..

inner wheel arch repairs complete ..

rear 1/4 repairs underway ..

My make shift porta power .. since i havent found a replacement 1/4 had to re shape it and refill the damaged area's .. think she will come up sweet .. or will do until i find a good one ..

went to order a lower 1/4 from rares but the said the guy who made them has closed .. so repaired the rust in lower section instead ..

Ended up giving the under body a coat of deadner .. just didnt want all the road noise of stones etc clanging underneath ,, ( SORRY ROSCO )
will deal with and rust that occurs as a result ..

well thats about it for now .. tomorrow a little more filling and sanding of 1/4 ..

order a few hundred $$ of goodies from rares .. rear boot seal channel .. rubber etc for suspension, sub frame bolts etc .. so with a little luck all i need to do underneath is fitting of seat belt plates and bolts a little more sealing .. and she will be back on terrafema ..

Hi Dave,
you are running this project very well, to be honest - I didn't expect you to get this far for some time......... just goes to show - hope others appreciate your commitment.
I must admit, it is too tempting to get the underbody covered - I have been guilty of that myself - I won't do it again after spending the past 15 years getting it off and fixing damage I caused.......

If you can keep anywhere near this rate of progress up, we are just about assured of having three old buses on the Mexican run.............

Love your work, great results - and love your "press"......

Hey Dave,

Coming along nicely, if you used water based stoneguard you should think about painting it over with some black 2pack as I did. You'll find it is a lot easier to keep clean.

Keep up the good work. The way you're going you'll be at Yamba too.

hey guys she getting close to been back on all 4s ..

so a little bit more of frontend work .. painting fitting new joints etc ..

man look at the packing ( shims ).. something tells me all is not right

check this out the previous owner paid to have this HR front fitter .. they where too lazy to even grind the old stuff back ..

ooh more tomorrow must not have taken pic of it ..

Lookin good Dave,

I wouldn't be worried about the front end shims. I'd be more worried if there wasn't any in there at all. Usually if there is none or only a couple its time to looking at pushing out the spring towers as it has over the years bent in the guts.
The engine mounts do look like a paid job, as no person with any interest in what they were doing would leave something like that.

hi all been a little while since i posted, think i may have stated another thead some where ..

not a lot of exciting stuff done shell in sprayed with hi fill and will most likely stay that way now until late in the year,
front end and hadfiled chassie bolted on .. was rather pleased it fitted straight on with out any fuss considering i had to replace both A columns i guess the final prof will be the panel gaps ..

i'm surprised you didnt just make your own chassis kit based on the CRS one, i couldn't justify the money when its just plate, RHS & and afternoon or 2

That aside i'm sure the panel gaps will line up shes looking the goods!

yeah nomad, i would have but it came with the car , seems i would of been easier to make my own after conversation with engineer he said certificate that come with chassis is useless he wasnt to drill holes in it to ascertain metal thickness. hmmm

yeah rosco had no plans to make this years nats but im sure it will be a runner for the Mount next year ..

good work dave ,,,its all worth it mate ,,once you get that rego and can see all the heads turning ,,it makes you feel rewarded for the effort,,,,and if ya missus dont believe your investing in a appreciateing asset wait till you send the pics to shannons mate mine was agreed value at15k today which is a sign that they see the value of a restored car,,but id rather have my car than the money
